I just picked up a Supernova the other day. I was going to get the 18" version, but the 14" was too cool to resist. I was hoping the barrel could be threaded for a choke, but I learned in another thread that most gunsmiths wouldn't want to try tapping a chrome lined bore. I'll just buy a longer barrel instead.



I haven't shot it yet, but it feels like a well built shotgun. Fit and finish on it is outstanding, and it just seems to be a well thought out design. For some reason I love the rotating bolt, I don't know why, but I do. And the action is buttery smooth.
The only thing I don't care for is the slide release and the safety. There's just too much trigger guard in the way. The safety is easy enough to turn off, but its a little awkward to turn on. It's workable, but could be better. The controls are pretty similar to the 870, but I find their more accessible and out in the open.
And the stock is a little wobbly for my likeing. Not sure if there's a fix for this?

The only accesories I want is a Mesa Tactical 6 or 8 shot shell carrier and a +1 extension. But I can't find them on any of the sponsors web sights. Anybody know where I could find these? And I'd like to add a light, but it dosent seem like that's possible with the 14" barrel.

Anyways, I'm pretty happy with my new shotgun and can't wait to get it out!
 
For the price and quality, not many shotguns made as happy as the Benelli Supernova.
First, it was my fun slugger with its 14" smooth bore.
Then turkey hunting clicked on: I got a threaded 24" barrel for it so I could screw on a turkey choke. The darn thing is now my most successful turkey gun!
Then I started to shoot 3Guns... The darn thing became my light & dirt cheap 3gun shotgun!

So friggin versatile... add a tube extension to it and you will never be the same.

To those who never toyed with one: stay away. The damn thing is like crack.
 
I do believe S&J has extensions in the works for the nova, he just released some for the M2, so I think they won't be far behind if they aren't already out.

SFRC had +2's in for a while, but that would be a bit long on that little 14" gun.

As for a light, you may have to jury rig something up. You can get barrel clamps for longer extensions that come with small pic rail sections, but you won't be able to fit anything like that on the short gun.

Also, welcome to the supernova club. My next shotgun might very well be an 18" tactical with ghost rings if i can find one.
 
Eventually I'll get one of these as a nice economical pump action, despite the Klingon designed trigger. Well, it looks like the Klingon engineer did okay otherwise.

I traded off my Nova because I wanted ghost sights like on the Supernova! The only problem is the trade was for a CZ-75B, which I traded for a Sig P220.
 
Im a BIG fan of Benelli guns! I currently own a Nova with a mag extension but am thinking about upgrading to the supernova as I find the comfortech stock works well for recoil.
 
Hi does anyone know what the overall length of the supernova with the 14 and collapsable stock by chance? I have an opportunity to get one 25% off the average normal store price you see these days and need to know if it will fit in my Atv bag.

Also I'm going to be carrying it a lot in the bush and would like a decent sling for it. Will any sling fit or do I have to go with some kind of specific uncomfortable tactical sling?

How's the gun holding up by the way?
 
Overall Length is 31.5" with the stock fully collapsed.
The stock has a 1.5" loop and the barrel has a spot up front for cord etc.
Ive just used para-cord loops at each end w traditional sling setup.

It will treat you very well.
 
I've only had it out once, but I put around 250 shells through it of various loads. There's no doubt that these are well made shotguns. It's not very often that I buy I gun that I wouldn't sell, but this ones a keeper.
Inwas still able to hit clays when thrown from a hand launcher. It did take a while getting use to shooting clays with ghost ring sights, I've only done this with a bead sight. But once I got use to it I was hitting about 7-8 out of 10.
The most fun was target transitions at close range, and practicing reloads. Most fun I've had shooting in a while.

As for slings, I just use a simple 2 point. I think I paid $6 for this one, and it's quite comfortable to carry.

The one thing that bugs me about it is that as a lefty I can't get to the slide release. Most other shotguns it's accessible by reaching under. With the super nova I have to release my forward hand and bring it back.

Incredible quality and price. I was out shooting clays with my 28" SuperNova last night and hit the ~3000 round mark and have never has a failure or misfeed of any kind.

Yea .. I am pretty bummed out on that too. I am wondering if its possible to rig a battery assist lever kind of thing for my left index figure.
 
I LOVE my supernova, I got the exact same one and haven't looked back. Awesome to shoot and I even rip on clays with it. Haven't gotten an extra barrel yet. But, next purchase
