I will be upgrading my CZ 85 combat in a bit. The gun has been fine and is accurate, but I want to take it to the next level. I am looking for a Ported barrel..., Good trigger,. Least recoil possible.

Any suggestions would be muchly appreciated , then I can further research it. budget of $1500. It will be used for 3-gun matches. I don't know how to Tune these kind of guns, so a gun that's ready to shoot out of the box would be great. Sorry I haven't got more details about what I want.
But, You don't know, what you don't know. LOL.
when the time comes I may advertise on the EE for one that's already to go, "once I know what I'm looking for". thanks a bunch. lone ranger.

Up date- I went with a glock 17-c

Not sure what calibre to go with either.

$1500 is a bit of a skinny budget for what you are looking for IMO. Plus, you will need a bunch of mags.

You are likely looking at twice that amount or more.

Agreed. You are essentially asking for a main battle tank that never requires maintenance, weighs 500lbs, and runs on CO2.

the majority of 3 gun matches do not currently have a power factor requirement so ported or compensated barrel may not really be necessary.
9mm that makes 125ish power factor will be able to punch holes in paper just fine, and knock down steel.
No need to go to a bigger or more expensive caliber.

Take a look at the M&P Pro CORE.
has a slide machined for a red dot and interchangeable back straps so you can find the grip size/angle you like.
If you must have a compensator, aftermarket threaded barrels are available, and you install the comp you want.
You may be able to hit your original budget with something like this.

Plus with striker fired guns, no worries about engaging safeties when abandoning/transitioning to the next gun, assuming the matches you will be attending work that way.

Perfect...a place to start. thanks.

I thought that most 3gun matches were restricted to pretty much stock guns such as what would be used by regular military users. Is that not the case with your local events?

All the race guns I've seen were based off double stack 1911's or something like a CZ Tactical Sport or a Tanfoglio equivalent. But for the most part they all had double stack 1911's or so called "2011's".

But this means starting with a decent quality double stack "2011" and replacing a bunch of stuff inside for match level stuff along with that barrel swap and addition of the compensator.

You're certainly going to need to up your budget though. Typically they start with a $1200 to $1500 gun. THEN they alter the gun by swapping out the barrel as I mentioned in the other thread. Along with this it's more common than not to swap out most of the trigger and action parts for Wilson Combat stuff. THEN you buy a mount and stick on a $600 red dot sight.

So all in all I'd suggest that for a gun and fixing up that you double your budget. And even then it might not be enough.
