As the title says I have a Ruger SR762. Right off the box it had various kinds of FTF issues. After much trying, FTF is now down to one thing - on the 3rd round (and always the 3rd round), it always get stuck between the bolt and barrel throat. The round gets bent by the bolt trying to push it in. When this is cleared, the remaining 2 rounds shoots with no problem.

Any idea what is causing this? Any feedback is appreciated.

Here is a pic of what the bent round look like. The second pic show the bullets are pointed upward to balance in order to take the pic.

Preferred yes. Ruger seem to be particularly interested in this I think. Just waiting for IRG to respond to sending this back.

Just a quick update on this.

I traded emails with Ruger support and they recommended to go with Snapshot instead of sending it back to NH. So I felt I am on my own with this 4 month old rifle. No after sales support whatsoever. I sent it since to the repair center and came back last week. Tested it on Thursday at the range and FTF problem is still there. Does not matter what type of ammo or mag or piston setting, FTF happens. So its going back again to the repair center. The saga continues...

Why not insist that Ruger takes it back, at the very least for testing and for it to be fixed at the factory as opposed to some place in Quebec. I'd work with IRG on sending it back.

PM'd you a link to the Ruger forums. The said issue sounds a lot like what I was reading on there when I was researching the SR762 for purchase. After reading the thread through I decided to hold off for a while so newer production rifles would work their way through the dealers. Hope you get her fixed!

I have been down that route since reported to them on April 7. If there was really an interest in making it right I would not be posting for community help and contacting Ruger support directly.

So this one goes back to Quebec.

I'd be curious to see what would happen without a mag limit. You're having trouble with the 3rd round, I wonder with an unpinned mag if you'd also have trouble with the 5, 7, 9 and so on. But obviously for legal reasons you can't try this out.

Before you ship the gun, maybe you could post a pic of the chamber and feed ramps. Sounds to me like one of the feed ramps may be out of spec, as was previously mentioned in this thread.

Also have you tried de-burring and polishing your feed ramps.

I am very sorry to hear that!

Unfortunately I can report similar experience with a mini 14 a couple of years ago. I bought it new and did not shoot it very much. A couple of months after the gun started to experience frequent fte ( every 5-10 round).

Contacted ruger, they sent me to there Canadian warranty center. I call them and they said they didn't deal with the public and sent me to the dealer I bought it from. By the time I got to email p&d it was over a year and I was only trying to buy a bolt as I believe since I neglected the issue and it was over a year it was on me. I was unable to get parts anywhere in Canada, I even posted on various sections on cgn looking for a bolt and no luck.

After over a year I gave up and sold the rifle as is.

I hope you have more luck then me with ruger! I know I am done!
