I've been looking for a semi-auto 22 magnum for my acreage to handle fox, coyote, lynx, beaver and muskrat. Does anyone have a personal favourite they can recommend? I just heard that CZ is making the 512. Anybody have any experience with this gun? What other options are out there? Thanks.

I think magnum research has one but they are around the $1000 mark. Basically a 10/22 modded for .22mag. Rem 742 i think is another, im just happy with my Marlin Xt-22 bolt action, one shot, one kill.

I have a .22wmr in a remington 597. It has been solid accurate rifle. Have put through 2000 rounds and it still chugging whatever i give it. just dont load the last round into a 8 round mag and everything stay reliable.

If you have the patience (like a year or two :(!) keep your eyes open for a Brno ZKM 611, they don't show up often and they're not cheap, but they are THE nicest semi-auto .22Mag you can get.

I have a CZ 512 it hits 1 moa at 100 yards with a Tasco 2.5-10x42. Good enough for me. Nice light gun.

I have one of these as well, while I despise the wood on the gun I cannot argue with the reliability and the accuracy that comes with it. Many a jack rabbit including running ones have fallen to the rig. The only issue I had with mine was the cocking mechanism that is made out of plastic disintegrated in one of our -40 rabbit hunts so had a friend make me one out of brass.

So if you're looking for an ugly, accurate rig that is reasonably priced, I would recommend. Have a friend that has a Magnum Research in a 22 mag which cost twice as much and my 512 and it out performs his rig. I will admit his looks cooler though......
