good factory top-of-the-line competition pistol?

Hi all,

So recently I've been shooting a lot of pistol and I was thinking about getting a top of the line competition pistol out of the box (i'll also spend some money on extra accesories (ie fibre optic sights, lightweight hammer, etc. depending on the need). I don't plan on putting any optics on it so no-rails would work just fine. 9mm also prefered.

I was initially looking at the CZ 75 tactical sports because I love the grip on my 75B in 9mm but I checked out one at a local store and it just doesn't seem to worth the money....the finish wasn't that good and the slide wasn't that smooth...(my ruger 1911 was smoother than thatout of the box w/o oil!) Maybe they just had a bad gun or an old one...anyone who has this gun would be much appreciated to comment!

My local store can order it for around 1250 + tax....just curious as to if you guys think it's worth it?

perhaps an sig x-five? (the regular p226's usually have problems with the slide locking back on the last shot...about about the x-fives? much better I would hope?)

other recommendations would be much much appreciated! (along with the store you know that has it in stock would be nice too....I'm in downtown Toronto)

edit: I'm looking to shoot in the production or open division (more likely production) and is now looking at the CZ75 czechmate "parrot". Is it worth the price of around $4300 or are tanfolios better?

These two classes are at opposite ends of the spectrum. Open is filled with full on race guns while production calls for very few allowed modifications. So pick one?

I have to say the Rangemaster is a very solid package. I was tempted to sell mine for a Les Baer PII (which is no doubt and top notch 45). I had an opportunity to handle a few Les Baers recently and while they were all very sweet, they didn't seem any more tight, smooth or better finished than the rangemaster. Maybe they are more accurate, (i don't know didn't shoot any), but i doubt i'd be capable of noticing because the rangemaster is pretty darn accurate for me. However it has a full length dust cover so that puts it out of production class i believe.

useless for competition, single action only fits in classic, open or standard. Classic you cant have a full length dust cover so that's out, open... well thats not going to go well and in standard you will be shooting against double stack guns with large magwells so reloads are incredibly easy compared to single stack
