I have an old 94 in 32 special with the half round and half oct. barrel. But rarely use it (to many other toys). Great old rifle to bring out every now and again, fun to shoot, and surprisingly accurate considering the use it has had in its day.

I have two pre-64's in .32 Win Spl... as a kid I shot five deer in under five minutes on the end of a dogging run, my first year deer hunting... emptied the gun as they jumped the fence heading for the swamp... three were laying at the bottom of the fence and two were tracked and recovered in under 100 yards... all lung shots (they were broadside at 40 yards)... gave me a fat head, and the older guys in camp puffed me up pretty good... I still have a soft spot and fond memories of that worn old .32 passed down from my grandfather...

Don't worry, bowhunting deflated my ego and taught me humility...

I never considered the round as more than a plinking round.... a fella at camp last year had one and I teased him on his pea shooter...... he proceeded to shoot a 300 pound black bear we pushed up during a drive the next day with it..... go figure....

I'm not sure what you are saying here???

.32 Win Spl ballistics are pretty much on par with .30/30 Win... whatever one can do, so can the other...

I shot two bucks in subsequent years at 150 yards with the open buckhorn sights... they both went down fast... hardly a peashooter.

Here is a story that I would go to court with and swear under oath that it is completely true.
I knew a fellow who hunted moose with a Winchester 32 Special, in the days and place where wild game was hunted year around, for meat to live on. This fellow was an exceptionally good shot and a great hunter. One winter day he went with his team of horses, hitched to a sleigh with a hay rack on, to get a load of hay from a hay stack on another quarter section of land.
He loaded his load of hay, then climbed on top to go home. in the brush off the end of the field was a moose. He knew the haystack he was at was 300 yards from the end of the field and the moose was an estimated thirty yards further, in some willows. He laid down on the hay, resting the Winchester 32 Special on the front of the hay rack. He estimated what elevation would be required with the original iron sights and carefully eased off a shot. The moose staggered and fell, dead. One shot at 330 yards.

I believe it.. without your hand on the bible...

Thank you.
Actually, everyone in that community would swear that a 32 Special was a better moose killer than a 30-30, all because of the great hunting and shooting skills of the fellow who owned it!

I shot 15 or so whitetails with the same .32 Spl before I switched completely to bowhunting... while I never shot a moose with it, my father shot a big cow moose with the same gun... my father, a notoriously poor shot, finally missed and hit the lungs... she went down with that one hole, which was good because the gun was empty at that point... not as impressive a marksmanship story as yours...

I have an 1894 Winchester in .32 Special. It is the take-down model. Loosen the tubular magazine, twist barrel assy 90 degrees, and it breaks in half. This is the Rifle I always take when Camping or back-packing through the woods.

I've got a late 50's vintage Winchester 94, it is a very nice rifle and the 32 is special, says so in the name. With the open sights it is as accurate as any open sighted rifle I've shot and more so than many.
