Shooting My S&W 586 at 100 Yards

Very nice. I want to try this. How big is the target? I just came back from shooting my Highway Patrolman and was very happy with my groups at 25M today but didn't think to take it out that far.

The target is a generous size 18"X24

Which at 100 yards out looks about the size of a postage stamp at arm's length.... :D

We shoot at 18x24 steel set at 50 yards in my local club's Speed Steel matches on occasion. It really makes a lot of the shooters groan in dismay and quake in their boots. But really it's not hard at all to hit. Mostly just the ol' mental thing.

But put it out to 100 and it would be small enough to make me stop and get pretty serious about my hold and aim. And not at all too disappointed if one or two miss here and there.

I like the reasons you stated for making the video and its good to try and get people out more with the wheel guns.

here is my inspiration. the aptly named impossible shot.

and he even says, it shoots a bit right so upsidedown it shoots a bit left......and its like 2 inches left at 200. That man is one of the greatest ever hands down.

I shot my .357 GP100 with 6" barrel, single action, at 100 yards and hit the target...it's fun and shows you what a good wheel gun can do! Too bad some ranges are stuck in the mud and won't allow it... I was using standard round paper targets and hitting inside the outer circle. Never thought of using .38s as I figured they'd rainbow too much...nice shooting!

Holy f$&@ that is unreal

Anyone care to explain why the CFO has put a stop to long range handgun shooting? Just because they could, I presume?

It should be permitted at any range with a 18' foot berm with Range officer approval. You need some experience but if the range operators approve you after seeing you shoot 50 yards you should be good. Those rules should be set by the range not the cfo in my humble opinion.

Hopefully this new Bill the Conservatives are going to bring in will curtail the CFO's to the point where they only can enforce the law as written and not dream up nonsense as they see fit.

Nice shooting. When I shot at Abbotsford we would set up clay pidgeons at 100 yards and walk our shots in with a K 38 and a Model 27. With practice we would get then about 50% of the time at 100 yards. The guns are capable, the shooters ...not so much.:>)

Take Care

Yeah lots of old revolver shooters out there that could shoot far and accurately with a wheelgun. With some luck and determination we can bring those days back. 1000 yards Jerry M! WOW

Your defiantly on the right track. Wonderful shooting. Now put a scope on it with some stout loads and go for 200yards. I used my Taurus model 608 357 mag to do just that,....and you can to.
pic of my gun in my Avitar.
