Great pictures and such a well written story. I would be less than thrilled about the snake population but to each their own with phobias. Thanks for sharing.

Ya it sure was different that any of the other regions we've hunted in Africa. It was awesome seeing game all day long and despite being a desert, it was so full of life with some many incredible landscapes and such a diversity of flora and fauna.

Yes we did. It was a very old bull so the meat was a bit tougher than is typical of African game but still quite palatable and as good or better than most North American game. It kind of reminded me of moose but a bit richer and sweeter. I quite liked it but when offered springbok, gemsbok and a host of other very tender offerings, I can see why it's not a favourite in camp. We had it for lunch one day as minute steaks and another time just cooked over a mopane fire. After living on African game meat for two weeks it is difficult to come back to North American game meat. Of all the meat we tried, I'd say klipspringer was my favourite on this trip. Zebra is the favoured meat of the local village people and I must say it's pretty tasty too. We never tried the hyena but the villagers happily took the carcasses.
 
I hunted next door to L'wyk with Shona, I met Julienne while I was there. I have a leopard hunt book with L'wyk next May. Good to read your report. Congrats to you and Vanessa on a great hunt.

Thanks! We were about 5 hours north west of the ranch. He sure does know his leopards...you will have a great hunt.

Wow, great job killing for the fun of it. That's a lot of meat for you freezer... but oh wait you fed the local tribes right?? congrats. Wtf a giraffe? Lol
 
Whats ya gonna do with the ostrich Sheep? I have turned down the opportunity to shoot them several times, cause I just couldn't think what I'd do with it..........I guess a life mount would be cool but a lot of money for a stupid bird..........I just never could wrap my head around what I'd do with it so I never shot one.........yet.......
Nice oryx and klippy by the way and stupendous springboks..............I assume you didn't have to pay for the chewed up Zebra and got to take another, obviously............or did you keep the good part of the hide for a pedestal mount, I'm having that done with one of the last two I shot, a very cool mount. I never thought I would like one until I saw one at the African Hunting show in Calgary and was duly impressed and decided I would take one for that exact mount, next opportunity.

I have never been so lucky as to hunt with such a good looking partner either.............LOL;);)
