Possibly buying a used SKS risks?

I got some "new" ones... My 59/66 is brand new. Am I delusional? I would have to be if i sell them for $200.

There are other types of SKS rifles than those in your little safe. They are of good quality but plentiful at present. Your Yugo is a different manufacture and supposedly held to higher standards.

98 % of them are used. Buy from a reputable dealer and be happy with an awesome shooter.

Word.
I bought a "Brand New" SKS from a dealer.
The bore looks worse than a sewer pipe.
I can't sell it and I'm too afraid to shoot it.

Run a brush and some solvent down the bore , and sandbag your first shot. You might be surprised how well it shoots. It takes a lot to mess these rifles up. Bubba is the only thing that seems to wreck and SKS rifle.

If you're buying from a local shop, ask them to take off the dust cover and bolt. If there's any rust or pitting in the action or bore then walk. If the store won't take the dust cover off for you, let them keep it.

Just buy one new or off a collector. The main issues would just be improper cleaning with corrosive primers or literal physical abuse due to not caring because the rifle is cheap and plentiful.

If the rifle bore, gas tube or piston are not rusted or pitted, you should be good to go. The beauty of an sks is they are extremely simple to take apart quickly to inspect all the trouble areas.

Yes, one of my safes (the small one) is full of SKSes.

My point stands. Brand new Russian SKSes exist on the market. Westrifle had a bunch of them imported in late 2012 and early 2013.

they are all used...

Not quite, as Beavermeat said - new ones exist on the market. I have an unrefurbished, unissued 1950 Tula I bought from Tradeex almost two years ago. My Yugo 59/66 was never used, and all of my Chinese ones were dipped into Cosmoline right after they were made.

Most of the Russian ones are used. Other makes, not exactly true.
