I have an HK SL8 with a Hera Arms BCK gen 2 lower and ACR stock, and Vortex 6.5x20x44. I am doing 1 MOA with it and always looking to improve. I just acquired an HK aluminum top rail to replace the stock plastic one. The problem is the new one is a bit taller than the stock plastic one. links to pics:

What is your thoughts on which way to go. I am worried that the stiffness improvement of the aluminum one will be offset by the crappy cheek weld from the higher mounting of the optics. Your thoughts please.

I read as much as I could find before building my SL8, ended up going with a UTG rail on recommendations from some American websites. It is aluminum, and is slightly lower than the stock plastic rail. Obviously wasn't thrilled about putting a "budget" part onto an expensive rifle but after receiving it I wasn't disappointed: it fit perfectly, the anodizing is acceptable and if it's made of an inferior grade of aluminum it isn't readily apparent. It works well for me, cheek weld is good with the stock in the raised position. Bought it off amazon for like $30.

Yea I am aware of these lower than stock plastic rails. I just can't find them anywhere but hkparts and they don't ship to Canada.
