I have an old 22 that is like a Model 60 Cooey but all it says on the receiver is REPEATER .22 CAL.

I am certain its a Cooey but was it a contract gun for Eaton's or Sears or another seller?

It looks like a compact Cooey 60 its 36" overall and a 20" barrel, a slim stock 1 1/8" wide at its widest part.

The rear sight is unusual not like any Cooey sight I have ever observed.

You have an original Cooey. It is not a store brand. What you have is the predecessor to the model 60 that was made in the 30's. It only says Repeater on it. There was also a Repeater Special that had hand checkering instead of the finger channel in the forearm like yours has. If made for Eatons at that time, it would be marked Eatonia and Sure Shot for Sears.

The original Cooey repeater it isn't as heavy as the 60 or the 600's out there.
I was wondering if it was a contract Cooey because I have two Sure Shot rifles that are the same dimensions as my Model 75's in the original boxes and an 82. I did have a small pamphlet made for Museum Restorations Services (am only guessing the publisher) but I haven't seen it in years.
I have a couple of thousand books but I am always looking for more information. Did anyone write a book on the Cooey Rifles?

Your gun is the first model repeater Cooey made. It's not a contract gun. I have one just like it as well as the single shot. I also have the "Specials" with the hand checkering in single shot and repeater model. There is only one book out there written on Cooey firearms. It is by John Belton and is a small 32 page book. It is called Cooey Firearms, Made In Canada, 1919-1979. They come up on ebay from time to time and possibly Amazon.
