Got it today. I love it so far :) Bore looks good, no rust as far as I can tell, the only bummer is that stock a kind of banged up, looks like damage caused by crate storage. I don't have picture of it yet. I am wondering, how are you guys dealing with those scuffs and scratches? Is there any guides of how to fix it without refinishing the whole thing?

It's 1944 :)

I refinished the one I had, but the stock was completely banged/scratched/spray painted up throughout, while keeping most of the minor imperfections. If you only have a few blemishes, it's better to leave it sometimes. Depends on what you are looking for as the finished product

Still has many flaws but I like the look of it:

crate storage damage is very common unfortunately. I ended up filling in all the major gouges and bolt knob dents with a shellac stick.

While I don't have the m44, I have two m38's. Great carbines, love em to death.

Cleaned of cosmo, applied Froglube and waiting now. Also, look what I've found. Looks like barrel is modern. Not sure is that a good or bad thing :)

Just an export stamp. Your barrel is original or if replacd it was done by/at arsenal.

I hope that it will shoot good with new barrel then :) I need re-finish mine now so badly! :) Can anyone in Toronto can do this? I guess, I can try it myself but I don;t have time for it. Anyone?
