234 Wildcat Family....ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY

Johnn.... I live only minutes away from Marshal and have yet to make over there for a visit.
Whats that phrase in internet lingo ??? My Bad ?

I'm from the 'pre metric era' but if memory serves me correct,;) that's it!! PM to follow.
By all means, go pay him a visit. You'll find it interesting and very informative. I went and saw his operation when he was nearby in Crofton. Impressive.

set for .234, 6.5 and 9.3.

There, is a man with some serious good taste in he's calibers.

Am saving hard towards a ~'BMI~ barrel in .234", .. even quit smoking, fer cry'n out loud ... never in more than these last thirty years, has me ever played with such a tiny 'lil wee bore hole.
Curiousity, it does drive the curious, so it does.

A long throated penguin for me.

Best I can do for a donor rifle so far is an 8mm '98 commercial 648 Husqvarna sporter.
Doesn't quite fit my LR gong ringing purposes though, especially stock wise.

so I was in Prince George today , and I stopped by the wholesale sports there and they had a stainless savage axis in 308 on sale for 314.00 ...... before I knew it I was carrying it out to my truck .

I'm just a little bit closer to having a penguin of my own :D .

Good on you and sounds like a decent price. I've just been checking through the Tradex site for a possible 'suitable candidate'. I'm thinking I'll quite likely plan on a 230 HYDRAX or possibly a 234 Moose.

The '06 and although I haven't had the need to do so, I understand you can fireform 9.3x62 from '06 cases. And, from a few posts back, I believe there was a move afoot to have a 23x62 and call it the:) 'Lil Wagner'.

yes that is right ,I remember now .

with the 9.3 case , would would end up with at least 5 or 6 grains more water capacity than the 06 case . unless a guy combined the 2 and made a minimal tapered case with a 40 degree shoulder and pushed the shoulder forward so it only had a .230" neck . it should be well beyond 240 weatherby for speed .

A 23X62 ? Now that's interesting, I just happen to have a ton of X 62 brass and maybe a suitable action.
I'm going to re-think my wish list.....

Similar thoughts came to mind and prompted a check of what's available on the Tradex site. I'm still thinking that if I go for a 23, most ilkely it will be the 230 HYDRAX but a close second consideration would be the 'Lil Wagner';).
Oh, by the way, if you have a more than adequate supply of 9.3x62 brass, I 'think' Ted may be looking for some.

Johnn............ that should be HYRAX.....no "D"..............it is a ground hog like critter from southern Africa...........

Gentlemen each one of these different variations you dream up requires a new reamer at about $250 a pop, and a reamer to make dies at another $250 a pop..............Y'all might want to bear that in mind as you daydream.........

Hydrax..............Hyrax'd............Toematos............Tomattoes..................

Now if you focused on the Pengwin, it would distract'd the interest in the Auh'Fick'n ferr.
Lil Wagner...........no ............ D ....... to worry 'bout.

Maybe kon-sider a cheeper vino like the Ohkanahgan Pantie Remover.
Cheap by the gallewn.

I stand corrected. Don't know where I got the 'D' from. :redface:Sorry about that.

Funny bunch here.

We go about correcting each other for "B's" in BMI's and "D's" in Hyrax's and any number of fine measurements or performance measures and then.........

'Looky chimes in and we all read his posts like everything is perfectly normal....rofl Laugh2

As my Pa used to say "Who has more fun than people?"

And just to stay on topic...I saw a Steyr Mannlicher in 22-250 for sale today and all I could think about was "I wonder how hard that would be to re-barrel to a Lynx?"

Is that a bit twisted?
Regards,
Dave.

If you would just use bushing dies!! all you need is a $12.00 bushing, no expander, no fuss, no muss! & no fancy smancy dies.
All the money you save can be put towards Douglas's anti 270 crusade.
