now looking for something completely different in .410

It's even more useless than 12 gauge buckshot(only has 3 or 4 pellets depending on the size), but it's loaded by Winchester and Federal. Might be a special order, but try Cabela's. Mind you, your local gun shop can order anything you want.

Looking for something a little more fun then buckshot find some PDX .410. 4 copper discs followed by 16 BBs

I have a MEC 650jr on my reloading bench and have played with home loads for years for .410. While it may be fun to play with and a learning experience, the results are not often that great.

This is something i have played around with also, i must agree that the performance is lacking. Even #4 or #6 shot as compared to #9, leaves very few pellets, and big gaps in the pattern...that you can literally fit a bird or bunny in. i had a backpacker type 410 that i experimented with in factory slugs. At close range, they would penetrate 3" of dimension lumber, but i am not sure what the advantage would be over a 12 gauge version of the same gun.

For me the 410 is a perfect pest gun, standing bird or bunny, or first shotgun for a kid. IMO asking much more is just asking to be disappointed.
