Is the VZ58 worth it or not?

If I might add a question to this topic...

I visited the CSA website and they have some nice civilian VZs there. Am I blind or something? I cannot find any displayed prices for these riffles. They got to be listed somewhere...

Buying directly from the manufacturer is not all that common. Go see the websites of the forum's supporting dealers.

Meh, the only reason we shoot them is because we can not get ak47s. Mine feels extremely cheap but goes bang every time I pull the trigger. Corrosive is a real pain in the ass; I prefer shooting my type 97.

Is that your opinion on VZ58 rifles as I don't understand what you are trying to say. Thanks for adding to the discussion, wish we had more facts and shooters experiences with them instead of confrontational garbage like you are posting.

I love my FSN VZ58... also my 15.5" and NR 858 that I used to have. Haven't had a CSA yet, but with the problems that I've read about, CSA seems to step up to the plate to stand by their rifles.

LOL & WOW... talk about taking a joke about "Well Informed Source" a wrong way. Oh well - your loss for not seeing the humor in it and realistically if you believe your post actually added some value to this discussion you are deeply mistaken. "I love my VZ58" really doesn't provide any information that (in my opinion) someone would use in purchasing a rifle... now if you talked about the accuracy, recoil, trigger weight, price of ammo, price of magazines, issues with mounting a scope/red dot, issues with cleaning corrosive ammo etc...etc... you really would have brought some value to this thread.

Now I wouldn't lose any sleep over this as I got your back. This morning before posting my joke I have PM him an essay on good and bad things about the VZ58 based on my experience shooting it and hopefully it will help him make a more educated buying decision.

Why not post it here and help the community? It's sad that people just post a pic to make fun of someone but don't lift a finger to actually help others reading the thread who want to learn about the +'s and -'s of the rifle. Carry on as I'm interested in the vast inside information that you have on the platform (that's not already posted in the VZ58 sticky above).

What I think is sad is that you think that you are helping a shooter and the community by saying "I love my vz-58". I get that you didn't get my "Well Informed Source" joke but don't kid yourself your post was as useless as mine. The difference is that I took the time to email him my experience with the platform and you spent your time flaming me. Childish!!! Anyhow I'm done...don't expect any response back.

Cheers,
GB

VZ 58 = Best choice among Unrestricteds...(especially in 223, 18 inch, 1 in 7 barrel). A real tough piece of iron that will eat whatever crxp you shoot through it... the only thing that can top it is Robinson XCR but at 3-times the price. By the way, the latest lot is made semi ground up and cannot be converted to auto mode (in case you are wondering if VZ will meet the same fate CZ 858).

CZ958's are coming out, hope they'll be as good as the 858's were. Go to Wolverine's sponsor section for more info:

Here is another one for you guys. The Hunter and the Tactical. We had them here and had a chance to shoot them. First impressions are very, very favourable. Fired some rounds through both of them. 270 yard steel plate hits were easier even with the iron sighted tactical. Finish on these look fantastic. They are a very very sweet rifle. We aren't taking any orders yet as we still need RCMP approval on them. Just thought we'd post a couple of pictures for you guys to see.

I've had a restricted VZ58 for about 10 years now. Have had no problems. It's in 7.62 x 39.

I am certainly very pleased with the performance of my 2 versions of VZ58, never a problem with either. Excellent platform for shooting 7.62X39 rounds.

I haven't done much to mine. Replaced the pistol grip and bought some mags for it. I love the gun. It's my go to bush/truck gun. Put a lot of different ammo through it and it seems fine. I had to tweak the aftermarket mags to feed right but the gun runs flawlessly. Best 900$ ever. Even my father ( hunting rifle type guy) gawked at it and asks me to bring it when we go hunting. Sure glad I bought it.

Good little rifle, I got a deal on a restricted version ($800 with aftermarket stock, 2x aftermarket handgrips, a foregrip w/ bipod and a couple other things) in 7.62x39mm and enjoy it quite often, although unfortunately only at the range. I would go with NR in 7.62x39mm, if only for the sake of being a good bush gun as well as a pretty range darling.
