I have a GLOCK 17 Gen4 and I just received a Trijicon RMR dual illuminated 9 moa green dot sight in the mail. I have a custom slide with RMR pocket on order with Zev but that is going to take 3 months to make. So in the mean time I want to pocket my OEM glock slide for co witness RMR. The actual shape and location of the screws is no problem I can just measure that off the RMR itself. I just need to know how far from the back the pocket should start, and how deep the pocket should be? If anyone has this information or a link to somewhere that does I would really appreciate it.

I'll have to find my notes on depth and length from the back of the slide... If I do I'll post them. Co-witness with Trijicon suppressor sights no problem.

Thans Id really appreciate that, I could guess and get pretty close from pics. I just dont want to go too deep

Also what brand/size suppressor sights are you using? And where did you order them from? My other slide will be coming with sights, but for this I will have to order some more...

Why would you want to cut the second slide? The Zev slide has a nice looking cover in case you don't like the dot,
But if you have both slides cut.. I really don't see the point.

We'll because I have access to cnc machines, I'm bored, and the zev slide won't be in my hands for 3-4 months. I have the rmr already and I don't care about the stock slide, I can make a cover plate for it too if I wanted too.

Dlask is now offering some services for Glocks, Check out their dealer forum here to see the thread!

Not interested in having someone else do it, I have 3 Cnc machines and software. It's a simple pocket I could just use the depth and start point from back measurements

If someone has a co witness rmr setup already like the picture posted. A simple 2 measurements from their cut would really help me out

why would you want to do that to a Glock anyhow? Just asking.. There are plenty of options for nice sights without cutting the slide and possibly fking it completely.

I want to try shooting with a dot sight, I already have the sight it was expensive so yeah I want to get it on the gun. If I ruin the slide its ok, as I have already said I have a custom slide on order already.

Im also actually looking at buying a FN FNX tactical, it comes cut for a co witness RMR already. Id still want to try cutting my glock 17 slides just for ####s and giggles.

Ya if you are that handy with the Cnc, save your cash and do it yourself lol

This guy posts the dimensions of the cut he made on the g19 slide he milled, might give you a decent idea.
His Depth 0.121"
Distance of start of cut from flat back of slide 0.657"
He talks about what he would do differently, but worth the 7 mins to watch.

Be sure to post how it goes!
Are you going to do any front serrations or compensating too?

I have 3 CNC machines, they are actually CNC routers set up for cutting wood, but they are basically just huge milling machines with 5'x10' tables 2 spindles with 12 position tool changers on each. Each machine was $270,000 so they are capable of doing anything I can program and set them up to do. I have made some custom motorcycle parts and tools on them before, so some simple cuts on the slide should not be a problem. I will cut a blank piece of metal cut to the size of a slide to test it out before I cut into the slide...

Thanks I saw that video but I didnt want to trust his info because he himself says he should have cut it differently. So I am not 100% convinced he knows what he was doing..LOL Kinda like me, but Id prefer to get the dimensions of someone who says they got them right.

I would like to also mill some slots straight through the sides maybe even one on top, I just want to do some more research on what kind of coating I can have done on it after the milling. As I do not want any exposed uncoated metal, I have to talk to my DLC guy to see if he can even coat a slide for me after I mill it.
