I Have same set up, Tapco stock with one Tapco 5/30 removable mag, lots of rounds through the one mag, no issues to date. Could be the mag spring… can’t say for sure.
I had so file down/ cut the front of mag down about 1/8". At the very front right near where the bullet tip sits. I did this right away as I noticed when I dry cycled the mags, the rounds were getting snagged on the front of the mag. Runs fine now
That's odd that it's the third round only. Mine always snagged with non corrosive norc ammo. It's runs smooth with the front cut down. I would suggest to cut the front down a little bit. See what happens then.
I have a lot of working guns and another working sks, I'm building a project gun for ascetics, I don't care if I have to do work to make it work. I like to tinker with things.
Did you see if the follower stays straight when you push down on it... I had open one of mine up and file down on what looked like a seam in frond of the follower
