Have been considering a big thumper for sometime now. Its neither getting a Marline GBL 45-70 and be done with it or get a conversion kit for my ACR in 50 Beowulf.

Has anyone here made the conversion kit before? How did it turn out? Thanks

I have non restricted 300 Blackout and 6.8SPC II conversions for mine (and 223 of course). A friend of mine built a 450 Bushmaster conversion for his as well.
My 300BLK conversion works well but I still need to build an op rod guide. I have a temporary solution which lets me use it but I want to finish it properly.
My 6.8 conversion is is almost finished. Just need to finish modifying the extractor for the new bolt which was machined to accept the 6.8 case.

Last I heard one of the other guys on here is having Ian at Herron Arms build him a 450 Bushmaster conversion as well and they are just waiting on an FRT number now.

building a conversion isn't hard but without parts support from Bushmaster you are left with modifying the 223 bolt to accept the new cartridge. For that reason 300BLK is the easiest conversion but the others can be done if you are willing sacrifice your original parts or wait for parts from Gravel Agency and then modify those parts.
The hardest part is figuring out the gas system. I made my 300BLK kit into a carbine length gas system and had to start with a small gas port then open it up till it would cycle.

Once you have a functioning conversion having it verified as non restricted isn't hard but if the caliber hasn't been done before a new FRT must be issued which seems to be a little slow.
Also keep in mind that once you have it legally made non restricted you can not install a restricted length barrel again (even at the gun range) or you will be in possession of an unregistered restricted firearm and could be criminally charged.

Good luck and keep us posted with your progress in the ACR info and media thread. I have pictures of my conversions in there as well and would be happy to share any info I have to help you with your project.

I looked at doing a 50 beo before deciding on the 450 Bushmaster instead. Ammo availability/cost and magazine cost/availability/reliability were the main factors I chose 450 instead.

Hum...i heard about the part where you/we have to machine our bolt from the 223. That sucks, i much rather get a OEM 7.62x39 bolt. FRT thats easy, mine is already NR. Got that done long ago. Where would you say is the best place to get ACR parts.

Gravel Agency is the only source for parts right now in Canada other than the Dlask barrel or custom built stuff.
