My 'as new' 590A1 arrived today, purchased off the EE. I am quite pleased with (a) the transaction and (b) the gun. I understand the high regard many have for the type.
This gun has the 18-1/2" barrel. My lady had handled a 20" model with full mag tube and found it too muzzle heavy for her liking. The factory stock was also too long for both of us. Another 20" model with full mag tube, collapsible butt stock and PG fore end was the most awkward shotgun I've ever handled, especially for her as a lefty.
This gun came with both the original furniture and after market Magpul fore end and butt stock. I added one 1/2" spacer of the four provided which gave a LOP of 13". Her '97 CAS gun has 12-3/4" but the Magpul butt puts your hand 1/2" closer to the trigger, so it balances out. The length also suits me just fine.
Function testing it with bird shot loads, recoil was negligible. I like the ghost ring sights and can't wait to try them on clay birds.
