S&W MP9 or Sig Sauer p226

Go try both, the M&P wins on ergonomics I think but I'd choose the 226 for the trigger and overall look. Both are awesome guns, buy one now and one later, it's the only way.

I don't own either one. But I have tried both. I'd buy the Smith & Wesson. Felt way better shooting than the Sig. Even with the SRT trigger, I liked the S&W better.

Go for the Sig! Feels great shoots great.

I can't speak for the M&P but I know for the sig you can get a conversion kit to .22 for around $400 that seems to be getting great reviews in other threads. Replacement parts are relatively cheap and seem to be in stock. Never had an issue finding magazines for it.

I'm not knocking the M&P either its a great gun too. I've put many rounds through my buddy's M&P .40.

The one you shoot better unless it is intended to be safequeen in which case the 226 (metal over plastic any/all days in the aesthetics dept.)

Another vote for the 226... Just love mine, got hi viz sights comming from a gunner, v excited....although, I do like the M&P, havnt shot one yet, but could be my next pistol....IMHO, get the one that fits you best...we all have our favourites....

P226 no hesitation here. Just ordered one myself (P226R) more expensive than the m&p9 but Its all worth it

Any reasons for the MK25 ?

I believe major differences are UID identification label, anchor engraving, anti-corrosion coatings on controls, internal components and magazines.

Great offer WG! What is your opinion on those two guns as you have both of them... any personal preference?

I love the P226, but M&P 9 is also a very good gun. If I had to pick, I'd say the 226 is the better gun but I'm a big advocate of using what works best for you.

Why not add to your list of possible weapons and add the Springfield XDM? It has the best ergonomics of all 3 pistols. I just bought a Sig to add to the collection of glocks, 1911's and my XDM 5.25. Of the Smith vs. Sig, my choice would be Sig all the way. Just not a fan of the M&P's.

Why is this even a question? The Sig is 2x the price of an M&P.

I would skip the p226 and get an CORE with a Burris fastfire for the almost same price as a p226...

Try both before buying. I fell in love with the 226 (9mm) on paper. Spec-wise, it is amazing. So I bought one several years ago, and discovered I couldn't shoot it accurately to save my life. After more than a year and almost a thousand rounds, I sold it.

My current go-to 9mm is a vanilla M&P. Yes, the trigger is squishy, but the ergo's cant be beat. I shoot this gun incredibly well, and it will eat any ammo I feed it including my cast lead reloads. My M&P has been rock-solid dependable.

Another thing to consider is cost. M&P range kits go for under $700 new. I've seen them as low as $450 on the EE. Compare this to a 226, which starts at over $1,000 new and heads higher very quickly.
