Peep sight for my SKS

Picked up an SKS, fun to shoot but my old eyes can't focus with the notch sight. Has anyone put a peep sight on an SKS? Where can I find one?

Check out tech sights. Google them first but these May help. I found the shallow recess on the rear leaf to be hard to acquire in the same spot every time. The tech sights are a fairly cheap solution and I have found myself to be much more accurate especially at ranges past 100 m with them. Hope this helps!

...my eyes are almost past a peep, put a rail with a reflex sight on my SKS...what a sight! just put the green dot on what you want to hit and it's just that simple...

I got my tech sight from Hical, great to deal with and it is a great improvement. Make sure to order a tech sight front post aswell. It's thinner and improves accuracy. I got the TS200.

I bought both type sights mentioned above and still couldn't see good enough to shoot my SKS, they don't make braille sights so I sold off the majority of my milsurps and bought rifles that scopes could be mounted to.

And remember if you take ###### and go blind for over four hours, you forgot to put your glasses back on.

If you need extra money for buying scopes you can get a part time job as a referee at school sporting events. You will be OK in Canada with your free medical care if the irate parents kick the crap out of you for bad calls because you can sue for damages and buy even more scopes.

The golden years have there draw backs but as long as you have firearms with large magazine capacities you will even be OK during Zombie attacks.

And in hunting season if you put the feed piles only five feet apart bagging your limit shouldn't be a problem either. Just aim at the center and middle of the blurry brown line and range estimates are never a problem.

Does it make removing the dust cover more difficult?

Lol had a good laugh at the deer part.
Personally I dislike peep sights, I find them hard to use anywhere that isn't a range.

Awesome, thanks for the info. I found two sights, the Tech sight mentioned and one by Williams that is a straight replacement for the original notch sight. The Tech appears to give more accuracy but the Williams looks more like the stock sight, I'll have to think on it for a day or two.

I have put new sights on my shooter grade SKS rifles. For a peep I used part of the L sight of a lee Enfield. Cut a notch in the cover and then brazed it in place. Solid and reliable.

For a red dot, just screw a small scope base onto the rear sight, and place the red dot there.

For a scope, used the bracket that bolts to the side of the action (have to remove a bit of wood). Bracket does not interfere with bolt removal for cleaning.

Get a MagWedge rail. Put any half decent optic on there and your eyes will thank you. There's also a groove cut down the rail so you can peek under the scope rings and use it like a peep site.
