Cast loads for 375 Weatherby

So I thought I would make use of my off shift time and do a little reloading at work.
I'm using a variety of manufacturers fire-formed brass and cast 265 grain bullets with a gas check. The powder is 3031.
I'm just looking for a practice rd so to speak.
Any thoughts or suggestions?

Trailboss works well in the larger capacity cartridges. Quickload estimates 1600 fps / 33,000 psi from 28gr of Trailboss in a 24" barrel. You might get a couple more grains of powder into the case depending on how deep you seat the bullet, just make sure you don't compress Trailboss.
 
Using IMR3031, Quickload estimates:
50 gr IMR3031: 2000 fps; 23,000 psi; 60% case fill.
Pressure is low and the burn would be inefficient, creating wider variation in shot-to-shot velocity.
60% fill is low. The large capacity cases are not as well suited to cast bullet velocities as smaller cases.

Not ignorance, just read too fast. Yes practice loads, just want to get some trigger time and get the feel of it.
3031 is one of the few powders that can be obtained locally.
A shot to shot variance is maybe something I'll have to live with on this batch as I'm in the field. Quite literally in a field, lol.
I can't go into the powder drawer for another selection. The selection is 350 km's away.

Thanks for the input, I'll get some cotton balls picked up tomorrow.
I'll try that with 50 grains of IMR 3031 behind it.
 
Trailboss makes loading reduced loads ridiculously easy. Between TB and H4895 you can make whatever sort of reduced loads yhou want, with ease. :)
 
Not to sound ungrateful, but to find those powders in stock in the local gunstore is hard enough.
I'm in a Field. A big a**ed trailer 50 yds across from a drilling rig.
3031 in the only powder that I can use for the next two weeks. It's an half an hour drive at the least to buy a Coke. Trailboss, 4895, Unique & SR 4759 might as well be on the moon.
But the upside to being in a field is target pratice is easy enough, lol
 
Hint: Does your camp have pillows? Most pillows are stuffed with kapok or Dacron or similar stuff that works wonderfully as case fill.

Yeah, but you aren't going to be stuck in a field forever, and you can order powder to be there when you get home. IN the meantime, use what you got, but like I said- H4895 and Trailboss will cover all your reduced loads with ease, you don't have to fiddle with fillers anymore unless you want to. H4895 will give you 60% loads that will still kill a deer but have little recoil, while the TB gives you the super mild plinking or grouse shooting loads.
 
Actually 4895 is one of my go-to powders, that and Unique. But they are hard to find locally, are needed for other firearms and 3031 is easy-peasy. It's out of style and therefore easy to source.
Filler was no big deal. Took me 3 pipe while drilling to fill them all, got not much else going on at that time anyhow
I need Unique for my antiques and the 4895 works good in milsurps IMO.
