is there a way to have a detachable mag for your mosin nagant without having to buy one of them ugly archangel stock? I would love to have either the ati monte carlo stock or just the original stock but with a detachable mag. I know people have don't it with an sks. Is it illegal to take a svt-40 mag and try to make it fit into a mosin by perhaps dremelling some of the receiver or mag itself and removing the floorplate on the mosin?

It seems that for an old clunky bolt action where millions were made, there is not much desire to tune them up as you would find with the semi autos. I think more people buy them for nostalgia and historical content than for shnits n giggles at the range.

It doesn't make sense to drop hundreds and hundreds of dollars into a 150 dollar rifle , unless its an SKS or other semi auto.

Whoa, so much negativity.

I have no idea where to get one but it is possible to make something. There are a few YouTube videos of home made detachable magazines for a 91/30

Hello,

Brass Stacker will have a 10 round mag out. They were delayed by the fact that they couldn't find a proper spring for mass production and so will be producing one themselves.

I flat have no idea whether they ship to Canada, though.

Regards,

Josh

thanks josh, i will just have to wait then for Brass Stacker no big deal. The negativity is just me venting at the fact when people ask a question you get these guys that call themselves purists that talking smack just because i like my hacksaw and drill lol, if people like us "bubba's" didn't exist then many of these guns wouldn't exist, they all came from "bubba" type people who tried different things until they came up with something, many of their designs were complete failures but look at all the different guns that came about from people sharing ideas. Mosin and Nagant put their heads together and came up the Mosin Nagant, if Mr. Tokarev didn't experiment with Browning's design he would not have come up with the tt-33, face it purists you need people like us to exist

Mosin and Nagant didn't work or put their heads together. They each submitted full rifles for selection in 1891.

Nagant's rifle was initially chosen, until the leader of the commission demanded further testing which lead to Mosin's rifle submission being chosen instead. Nagant's magazine design and interrupter were incorporated and a legal battle ensued lead by Nagant.
The Russian military paid Nagant for his contribution while Mosin got nothing because he was an officer of the military so he, and his design were deemed to already be owned by Russia.

then shut the f up, I asked for people who have knowledge on the subject, I didn't ask for a sermon about what not to do with my stuff

While some might want to debate your points, there is no reason to use such language. We're all in the same boat here.
