Looking forward to the warm up before NSCC. Will be fun to shoot the 1000 in the match. To change it up even more we should do the rapid follow up at 300, with an expedient sighter.

This is the last match before NSCC, and we haven't done the 200 in a long time. Might be a good idea to give people some practice at it... People usually have a harder time with it than with the 500.

There is an OSA precision match the following Saturday. If you haven't been to MilCun before, range is metric (like Connaught), we'll be shooting the Rapid Followup at 200m.

I'd sure like to practice the same course of fire as we'll be seeing at NSCC.

It's really almost impossible to practise the full course of fire of the NSCC in one day. The NSCC is run over 1 and a half days. Barney has selected certain phases that are very relevant to the NSCC and success. The 200 is relatively simple, just needs good method in rifle handling. The 300 is somewhat difficult as it requires 10 minutes of focus for 3 second exposures. In the butts I have noticed more than one shooter that does not shoot in time. The 400 mover is a make or break at the midpoint of the match...period. This one can kill your score. It's almost an art as opposed to a science.

The 1000 yard phase Barney chose is really innovative. If you can succeed at 1000 yards, 800 meters at the NSCC is easier.

The 200 is the match that has probably cost more master class shooters a win than any other. Usually its the result of loads that were only neck sized having hard feeding or hard extraction (which should happen in a tactical match if you're running neck sized brass). It costs novice shooters because they come with a poor zero, unknown ballistics, or ballistics that are off because the bore isn't fouled. It also takes people out of their comfort zone because they often have to get out of their ideal position to run the bolt, then rush the follow up shot and pull it.

In contrast, the 500 is usually full of 50's with high V count.

Very much so.

Okay, here we are:

Let's see how that turns out....

Many thanks are in order:

* My efficient Butts Officers, MikeT and TerryP who did a fantastic job, proving once again you can help run the matches AND shoot like a rock star...
* Our RSO, JB who kept the tempo of the matches on point!
* Our great shooting community who kept laughing at our jokes on the firing line. Thanks
* a super cooperative cleanup crew who took the wind flags down and continued to get our targets all patched up and refaced for the march out.

Here is the breakdown of the classes of shooters (2 of the classes with 16 shooters)

Master class:

1st place: Terry P & Tomasz B
2nd place: RyanMcL & KenT
3rd place: MikeT & KrisD
DanP & MikeB

Expert class:

1st place: SeanD & ZibiT
2nd place: TerryK & TylorT
3rd place: DaveM & DragoA
DennyG & WarrenB

Thanks once again for all your help getting the matches prepared and cleaned up.

On another note, some shooters shared some concerns that I need to address. It seems that there was some concern or misunderstanding that during the 400 Mover match a competitor can shoot more than 10 shots at the 10 exposures. Make no mistake, you are only to shoot 10 rounds at the 10 exposures (not 11 or 12 like some other shooting games). There... I hope that is clear enough. Should you find yourself with a slight malfunction during one of the earlier exposures you CAN catch up.

On the next point of concern, I was asked about the possibility of placing a black patch in between the 2 figure 11's as an aiming point. Sorry, you cannot modify the target in any way, shape , or form to gain any advantage. End of misunderstanding. I hope that this issue is cleared up. Let's have fun and keep it that way.

Cheers and keep helping the noobs out there!

Barney,

There is a slight mistake on my score (Match 65). I shot 46.3V, not 20. I've put down the score on my score sheet. If you find this error then I'm proud of myself for accomplishment..shooting over 200 points for only 3rd matches. ;) (include one missed shot due to no primer in it).

Here is three short video clips. I wanted to experiment with the Vortex Razor HD Spotting Scope 20-60x85 with the camera adapter to see if I could see the bullet vapour.
Also testing the video through Sightron III 10-50x60 LRIRMOA. I really liked the Sightron reticle. All shots by 6BR with 105 grain Berger Hybrid Match. I did not adjust or dub the audio. I just leave the way it is.

There will be one more video coming soon.

Precision Range 400 yards Mover (this video helped me to review the shots I made. Barney kept telling me to pull the trigger FASTER!!! :) . I used to be a Master pistol shooter for many years, pull the trigger slowly and steady but not this match). Duh!

Precision Range "See through eyes/scope - Mirage and No Mirage". You could see the difference with the naked eye and look through the scope. (Sightron III 10-50x60; I believed the I set up between 20x and 30x; last video was Vortex spotting scope at 700 yards (50x-60x zoom)

Precision Range - 1,000 yards Bullet Impact with the wind. (Psst...I did not shoot this one, my partner did... I just videoed him through my riflescope / 40x or 45x zoom) Showed the bullet impact and read the wind on the right side. The wind affected the bullet a lot.
