Just got done baking 500x 135gr and 500x 125gr for my 9mm guns, doing some 45s tomorrow. I didn't bother using latex gloves for the first couple colours which is why they don't have perfect coverage. But the driving bands are covered for the most part so it's good enough for me.

Powder coating cast boolits, it's the new craze, all the kids are doing it!

Custom colours, no messy lube, no leading, low start up costs. Although I still do traditional lube.

Here is some 500 mag loaded up ready for the zombies :)

@seagull: it's supposed to be a Chrome like finish, but they are coated and come out silver. I've done maybe a 1000 in small batches for 9, 45 and 500, seems to be working great so far. I just need a bigger toaster oven or a second one lol.

Well... this is news to me. Could you enlighten us some more about these E-Z bake bullets Spawn?

From what I read in another extensive thread on the subject (that Spawn and others were detailled in) it can be as cheap and simple as a clean #5 plastic tub (margarine container) with clean cast rounds and some powder coat in it, swirl it to make static so the powder sticks to bullet, and then bake (outside) in a $10 garage sale toaster oven. As already grazed on, no need for wax or liquid lubes, and helps to eliminate leading. Plus, you can make bullets look like the amazing technocolour dreamcoat, which I'm pretty sure makes them faster. Probably more accurate and deadly too.

I've ordered some powder coat from the link in that thread (didn't see it - was it in the bullet making forum?) and am going saleing tomorrow to find a toaster oven, and will be trying this for 3 calibers I reload for.

I see, thanks for the info Target. I thought someone was baking polymer bullets at home for a second there!

Still, very neat idea.

That's because the kids don't have enough to keep 'em busy. snicker.
How much does the paint add to the diameter? Just curious.

And the point of this would be .....?

If those involved with this ludicrous activity have SO MUCH TIME TO WASTE ... why don't they "donate" at least SOME of it to providing a USEFUL VOLUNTEER PUBLIC SERVICE?

Alternative to using conventional bullet lube.

Apparently you have the extra time to criticize about something you clear know nothing about so maybe take your own advice....

Works for cars. Should be the same for bullets.

Love the look! I don't cast but would like to get some of those some time.

find me some lead and send it my way and i might make some for you :)

i haven't timed how long it takes me to powder coat or use my lyman 4500 but it's pretty darn close, maybe a bit longer to powder coat (not including baking time) vs traditional lubes. but the lack of mess, low start up cost (powder, oven and lee sizing dies) and awesome colours makes it worth it. also i have yet to have any leading issues with powder coating.

And the powder coat does not get stipped off, or fouls the rifling? They look interesting for sure.

there is 2 ways to test your powder coat bullets; using acetone to try and rub off the coating or use a hammer and smash the crap out of them. nothing should come come off from either test.

i smashed all 7 colours from my bean salad and no extra paint came offf, i also smashed 2 different factory plated bullets (bottom left and middle) and got similar results to my PC bullets.
