Norinco 1911 government $299 SALE

I've been wanting a 1911 for some time, and would prefer something from kimber or Springfield or sig or..........but how can u turn down 279? Does anyone here own one feel it wasn't worth it? I really don't want spend any money right now on a new gun with projects on the go, but I'm having a tough time stopping myself.

I have owned 3 all were rough on the inside, and needed to be tuned to be smooth but they go bang every time right out of the box. I have had to upgrade a few things here and there but overall a good purchase for the price.

I have a Commander model (slightly shorter barrel), and am very pleased with it. If you pass up a deal for $279, the only thing that will bother you is ... what is the opposite of "buyer's remorse"?

Beats me. Is it the same feeling you get when you don't buy a lottery ticket and your numbers come up?

Fortunately for my bank account, I hate 1911s. They look great, they feel perfect in the hand, their triggers are exemplars of crispness -- but they are a PITA to strip.

Mine's great! Best new purchase ever! Great price, cycles great, feels great, looks great...just great.
There's no way you can beat this deal. There are some who won't go near the Norc name, but after a bit of tuning & a good break-in...this is an amazing pistol for the price. If you need to spend more on a name, go ahead.
:)
imho

I've had two and they're fantastic. Sure they aren't the prettiest 1911 but for a range/paper puncher toy its worth it at that price. After working it in both shoot great, haven't had any malfunctions after initial break in. If you don't have a 1911 in your collection its a great way to find out if you like the platform and and great platform to build from of you really enjoy it. I don't particularly enjoy the cost of shooting 45 acp so these are just fun little toys I take to the range from time to time. Decided to keep one just to have a 1911 in the collection and when I feel frivolous and want to sling 230gr rounds down range with a handgun :p

Is the chrome model a flat/powder type finish or is it a polished/mirror type finish? Also would the chrome make it harder to sight due to the bright finish in bright sun? I'm split between the chrome and the two tone. I like that the chrome is compact and more corrosion resistant. Any other differences between chrome and two-tone I'm missing? Was wanting an m&p45 to match my m&p22 but these prices are just too appealing!

It looks more like brushed aluminum. I've been told it's technically a "hard chrome" finish, & not "polished chrome". I still love the look & have no issues with sighting in. Maybe because it's a dull/matte finish? I dunno? Seems fine to me...

Thanks. Yeah it looked like a dull finish to me just wanted to make sure. I really like the chrome over the two tone look much better for some reason.

Will the shorter sight radius make much of a difference?

From what I've been reading on this site I've come to conclude that the 9mm Norcs are something to keep away from anyway, if you don't want to futz with it.

If I had the spare cash I'd buy one of these to beat on. Maybe try loading black powder 45ACP or some such silliness :)

I've had 3 three of the 9mm Norc 1911s, one was the older style with single sided safety and two of the newer SPORT models. All three were unmodified, and all shot fantastic. Very accurate and reliable, not one ftf/fte that I can recall.

The only problem I've experienced is with the one I currently have. I bought it used, cleaned and inspected it when it arrived, then put about 2K rounds through it. The last time I used it I noticed the front sight has become very loose and can be taken right out with little effort. It is in the shop right now getting new sights, and I'm doing a trigger job while it's there. Otherwise the only modification is a new set of VZ Operator2 grips. I even use 6 Norinco magazines for it, and haven't had any problems with those either.
