I just saw Marlin X7s on Ellwood's website for $360? Is this the same gun that I remember or Remington has pulled another one of their "quality hack jobs" on this otherwise good rifle? How did they manage to drop the price by 30%?

When they first came out, I bought one at the introductory price of $450. The guns quality, fit and finish, many features that you never saw in this price range and its accuracy was surprising. Later the price went up to $500-550. So what is the deal here? I am terribly suspicious of Remington's Hedge Fund owners.

If this is the same gun that I remember, buy two!

I've bought two XS7's for 299$. one was from bass pro in Vaughn and epps price matched my second one a week later. that was a few years ago.

I bought mine when they first came out for $389........then watched the price drop. I've seen them going new for as low as $299. I quite like them as an intro level rifle.

So I got one of their 270s for a friend. With a Revolution 3-9X40 on it installed and boresighted for free, it came to around $750. Took it to the range and 5 140 gr. core locks later, it was shooting 1" groups. Two boxes of ammo later, my friend (the owner) politely ask me if I am ever going to let him try HIS new gun! :D Really what a nice first gun (and scope) for the price.

They were fresh out of .223. Marlin website does not mention X7 in .223 but I can swear that Ellwood had them on their website and marked as sold! Hmmm

I paid 300 and change for my xs7 in 223. Really like the gun. Especially after converting it to take ar mags.

Do tell? How did you get the bolt to pick up a round? The MVP has the "drop-push" bolt that has a flap that drops down from the bolt face to pick up a round from an AR mag, no other manufacturer has been able to "retrofit" an AR mag to an existing bolt gun with any kind of success because the AR mags leave the rounds TOO LOW to be picked up by the bolt. I predict you are going to be rich soon............

Bought this 308 heavy barrel, 3 years ago, paid 320 all in and never took a shoot with it yet... It will be done by one of my grandkids, i guess... JP.

At a gunshow last fall I bought a stainless one in 308 like new in the box but slightly used for $240......I think I did OK....youngest son liked carrying after deer last year...it's his now.

Mine will do 1.5", 5 shot groups with the cheap American Eagle 55 grain FMJ. The Federal Fusion 63 gr came in at 1.0" (5 shots). I haven't played around with other brands to date nor have I tried reloading. For a cheap rifle, I have been happy with it.
How does your 223 shoot?
