ar butt stock

the only confusion is , my rifle is 20 in barrel. all adds i have seen say collapsible butt stock with carbine tube and spring.
will that work on my rifle , as its current stock lists as a rifle tube and spring. A2
can i just swap with the carbine stock ,tube and spring.
or must it be a rifle tube and spring because of the barrel length.

There are different length tubes. I'm sure someone will say otherwise, but it have run into problems just switching tubes on one gun and keeping the same buffer and spring.

I'm not sure what buffer you have in the gun.

Either of these look familiar...?

i have not taken it apart yet, waiting for other items to arrive before changing things up.
stock is listed as an A2, but i can take i apart this evening to check
thanks for your help.

i will switch the entire tube, buffer and spring to be sure.

Never mind , you got pictues now.lol

You can run a 20" barrel with a carbine buffer tube [receiver extension] , you will need a carbine buffer and buffer spring .
Rifle buffers are almost twice as long as a carbine buffer and the rifle spring is like 2-3" longer then the carbines , so it's probably not a great ideal to try and stuff it in a carbine buffer tube.

The buffer tube length may be determined by the length of your buffer. The easiest transition will be to keep the same buffer tube length to use the rest of the parts. A carbine buffer tube with a rifle buffer is less ideal.

If you're swapping out the stock for a carbine one and if these new DA556 are anything like the old Norinco CQ311's here's some good advice from an old thread.

The threads for the stock are different, however you can screw on a CAR stock. I did ths for a bud. Use lots of oil and put lower in vise and protect it from marks. Screw in, take out and clean threads, repeat. The stock will cut new threads, but you have to clean out the metal it cuts. Perhaps in and out 8 times.
