I attempted a search, but didn't find much...so apologies if I've blatantly missed anything.

Has anyone attempted to drill into the Norinco plastic buttstock to mount a QD push button cup?

Alternatively, has anyone tried/used a sling swivel stud in place of the stock rear sling mount?

I have the SHG up front and was thinking I could add a Magpul RSA-QD mount up there and then open up some more options for slings. Just a thought...

Thanks in advance for your help.

I have some Noveske QD flush cups that I haven't installed yet but they will work just fine. As for the original rear sling mount it is held in place by the lower buttplate bolt so it will be difficult to replace with something else.

In doing some more research on other forums, I've found some people who have taken the rear swivel and mounted on top after dremeling a bit of material out between the stock and the butt plate. Apparently the stock screw is long enough to go through the swivel mount. Plus some JB Weld and, by all accounts, it's a workable and simple solution. It also looks as though HK style clips work just fine in the swivel.

I'm going to look into this further as I think it's fairly elegant and simple solution that doesn't require too much more hardware.

That said, I'm also going to check out the Spectre sling.

Thanks guys!

I found this:

I would only need the magpul mount and either an HK clip or push button QD. I could get over the rear mounting solution. I'm generally a fan when power tools aren't involved...

Well, I learned something new today. Many/Most of you probably already knew this, but I foolishly assumed the interior of the Norinco stocks were the same/similar to the USGI fibreglass. I was all ready to dremel our the back to mount the swing swivel on top, only to find that the Norinco stocks are essentially hollow shells. No go. Nothing solid enough to mount the swivel to.

Alas, I ended up ordering the padded BFG VCAS 2 point sling with the but stock adapter. I would have preferred not to have the adapter, but for now, it's the next best thing. Perhaps I'll keep an eye out for a USGI fiberglass on EE.
