Hello everyone,
I had a quick noob question.
Got my first Savage 93TR .17 HMR today from Wolverine. Everything was great except my total lack of expertise. I couldn't find the bolt release... This was because there isn't one.
In my own stupidity, I failed to grasp the concept of making the gun safe, but having the safety turned off when installing the bolt. Needless to say, it took several attempts before I finally figured it out.
My first question is this, part of the installation involved me firmly pulling the trigger while the safety was on. Could I have somehow damaged the gun/trigger unit?
Also, could I have somehow damaged the bolt when trying to push it into the chamber (which as I now know couldn't be done because the safety was engaged)?
Any insights into this matter would be much appreciated! I am just conceded that I may have irreparably damaged my rifle's bolt/trigger unit.
I know with other rifles, I wouldn't be concerned, but with this rimfire rifle, I am just more inclined to be more gentle with it. Perhaps that is unnecessary.
Lastly, with regards to shooting this rifle, is it good to go out of the box, or is there is process that I should undergo first, such as cleaning the barrel?
Thank you everyone, and sorry for my noobness on this rifle platform.
