XCR with a UBR

First you will need the dlask adapter. Then an AR buffer tube and nut. and of course your ubr. Im doing the swap soon. My dlask adapter should be here from wolverine tommorow. Im putting a ctr with cheek riser on

You wont need the castle nut or buffer tube, tube comes with the UBR and the buffer threads directly into the adaptor. If you can try to find one of the rare now NEA high rise adaptors. I got all three of mine from WTB ads on the EE. The Dlask unit is too low for a nice cheek weld on with the XCR and UBR combo. Heres a pic of the adaptor, one on my M with UBR and the other on the M with a simple CTR. Keeps everything lined up much nicer.

I didnt know the ubr had its own buffer tube thats cool! Wish i went with that instead of the ctr. Live and learn lol

I put my UBR set up on my Keymod L for all of about 5 minutes. The UBR really helped the old quad rail versions feel better taking away that old front heavy feel and felt much more balanced but on the now already well balanced Keymod added quite a bit of weight. The UBR set up is not light at all.

If they were priced the same then that'd be one thing, but the CTR is a fraction of the cost of the UBR, so even with the purchase of a buffer tube and CN that you need for your CTR, you really haven't flushed money down the drain. Different set up meant for different needs that's all.

Are you putting the LaRue cheek riser on your CTR?

Oh for sure! CTR, dlask adapter, cheek riser and buffer tube only cost me in and around $150. Sold my FAST for $150 so it washes out.

The cheek riser I dont think so, ordered the riser at the same time as the dlask adapter from wolverine. Must be magpul. Is the larue better?

The Larue isn't exactly better just a different design. On your XCR you wont have an issue but when trying to run a AR the Magpul riser interfers with operation of the charging handle. If you look at my pic the Magpul riser has a hood so to speak that sticks out over the buffer tube and the Larue unit does not making it universal for more applications.

Also, the LaRue riser (RISR) reciprocates backwards when using the charging handle. Not a feature necessary with the XCR mind you, but could always be used in the future.

Love this place :) always something new to learn. I had only seen it in pictures and never actually dug into what it was all about. Great information, thanks for that.

I think my sarcasm meter needs re-calibrating..

Or you're being totally honest...!

No I'm being serious lol Back when I was looking at pictures of the a Larue UDE kit I have now I came across picture of the Larue riser. Not needing a riser as I had a few magpuls laying around I never researched but by some of pictures noticed that an AR charging handled cleared and figured it was because of the different shape. Thinking about it now what I originally thought would have still presented the same problem if running the stock collapsed so after you mentioned it I googled it and looks like a nice piece of kit.

will the CTR stock line up poorly with the dlask adapter also? Never mind, just seen a pic with CTR. NEA looks much better.

does NEA come in grey color only? Will it just bolt on to rifle like the dlask does? I found an NEA XCR adapter but it do not say high rise, does this matter?

They are a little more a greyed finish. Two of mine are very dark almost black the other very grey. Installed the same way as the Dlask adaptor. If you can have the person sent a pic cause the early model of the NEA was more like the Dlask and had a steep drop.

got my dlask adapter today! with a 3/4 cheek riser the CTR lines up perfectly. better cheek weld than the FAST IMO.

Target sports Canada has them on their website, I wonder if these are the right ones?
