Why is a Kidd bolt buffer better?

Just got my Kidd extracter and bolt buffer, was curious what difference the Kidd bolt buffer will be, over the OEM Ruger bolt?

Does these little rubber sleaves last very long , or should I get spares, and because the steel pin is a 1/4 thick as the OEM , will this last as long as OEM? Or am I being to worried over minor details?

Most replacement buffers are pure polymer and last a loooong time. I wouldn't sweat it. If the Kidd wears out, get a polymer one....cheaper too.

OK thanks people! Now I'm off to change the bolt and the extracter, first extracter , hope it's not a PITA .

Take your time and dont let the spring fly!!!!! I found a 90 degree pick tool worked well.
I bought the Volquartsen buffer and was surprized at just how loud the metal on metal was.

By pick , you mean this , right ..

^^ Yes... Easier when the bolt is in a vise. so 1 hand holds the extractor and one operates the pick.

Unfortunately no vice.... Yet.

Only bad thing about the vise is its usually in the garage. If the spring does go. It will be a pain to find. I did mine on the kitchen floor. Just incase.
