S&W M&P 22 or Sig Sauer (GSG) 1911 22?

"Looks" is a very personal thing…..that said my decision was also based on quality in materials and track record. I appreciate the fact that Ruger's MK's are proven to last (a few generations) with very little issues. I've owned several and regret selling them.
After ~1,500rnds thru the 1911/22 there was noticeable wear on the finish and slide stop notch. Plastic sights are junk and the ZRTS kit is strongly recommended(additional costs to get it to where I would want it functionally). Reports of slide cracks, etc., got me concerned for my son's safety.
My latest Ruger is bone stock with a $12 mag disco bushing, shoots straight and runs great on cheap bulk 555's. Besides, I like the Iconic Lugerish look of the Ruger…..YMMV

I own both the Sig 1911-22 and the M&P 22. I have not had any issues with either firearm to date. Both function reliably and are very accurate and I would highly recommend either of them. I guess it would come down to personal preference. I own both because I also shoot an M&P 40 and a SW1911 so its nice to pick up either the 22's or the centre fires and have the same feel. I did replace the rear sights on the 1911-22.

All in all I prefer the M&P, but if you ask my wife she prefers the 1911-22.

So what he heck, get both! Guns are like sunny summer days - you can never have too many.

ya thats my Ruger 22/45 Lite with custom made comp (out of the states), Hogue grips and add on fiber optics and red dot (ive since changed out the red dot for a smaller one)
im like you, the rugers just never did it for looks for me.
then when they came out with the 22/45 Lite i thought..... i like that, i can work with that, so i picked one up and tricked it out.

That a Kid trigger group? Also what charging handles are you using? I love the look of Rimfire Technologies charging handles and extended mag releases, but cannot find them in Canada anywhere!

I have the M&P 22. Had some issues about 2000 rounds in with the slide locking back and getting jammed. I contacted the warranty centre (Murray Charlton in Victoria). They were pleasant to deal with and I sent the pistol in right away. Got it back about 5 weeks later. Not great, but not bad anyway, especially considering some of the stories I've heard about people waiting for parts. Anyway, gun has been flawless since. Not sure how many thousands of rounds I've put through it, but I'm sure it's well into 5 digits now, almost all Blazer bulk.

Kidd 2 stage on the one and a Timney on the other.
both run Kidd bolts and charging handles.

Must have been an easy fix, i am at 17 months as of next week without mine
 
Got my M&P 22 today, initial impression is remorse lol.
Barrel liner is 1mm thick literally, take down is awkward, not sure this one is going to stick around. And it can't be dryfired....in this day and age, how can they not make a .22 that can't be safely dryfired without damage? It's lame....there are 60+ year old rimfires with firing pin blocks... Makes no sense.
It just doesn't get any simpler or reliable and robust then a Ruger.....love my 22/45.
Even the GSG that is a bit more complex has a more robust build to it then the M&P. Plus Blue line is great for warranty.
I'll shoot this one, but I dunno if its going to win me over
