Well, I just got back from a shopping excursion. I drove across the city to WSS to buy some 12 gauge steel, some trap loads and a hunting licence. I walked around for 5 minutes and could not find one case of steel, just a few individual boxes of high priced stuff. So I asked a clerk where their steel shot was. He told me it is very hard to get and that they had none right now. I told him hunting starts next Monday. He said everyone was having trouble getting it and the price would be quite high. I was a little ticked so I walked out without buying anything, including a licence. I could see why there was only 4 customers in the whole store. I stopped at Cabelas on the way home and had trouble finding a parking spot as it was so busy. Walked to the ammo section and they had more choices of steel shot than you could shake a stick at. So picked up a case at $14.00 per box (Xpert) and a case of trap loads which was $6.00 cheaper than WSS. Cabelas also had Winchester 333 boxes of .22 shells so picked up some of those as well---and even my hunting licence. Anybody else been fed this crap by WSS. Are they going down the tubes that badly in other areas?
Or has anyone experienced a shortage of steel shot in their area?

The WSS in Saskatoon had a good selection of steel shotgun ammo on friday, didn't get over to Cabela's.

Yeah, I couldn't believe it either after seeing how much steel shot Cabela's had, so I called customer service at WSS after I got home. Even that didn't work out as I got a recording that said leave your number and we'll call back. Not a good day for impressing customers at WSS.

That's nothing new for WSS. I was looking for 180 gr .308 at WSS this past Friday - found none. Found it instead at Cabela's and Walmart!

WSS had one old battered box of .250 gr Nosler Partitions held together with tape. Asked about a reduced price but clerk at WSS said no can do - so back on the shelf to sit for another year or two. Its a mystery to me that WSS is still in business here.

Good thing you didn't get your license there either. When I went to buy my bird license two weeks ago WSS didn't have the Federal Migratory Bird Stamp part. So I went to Cabela's and got both.

Cabela's had a sale this weekend on Xpert steel in BB, 2's and 4's.

NB was able to buy some 20 ga 3" steel #2's today at WSS (Tuesday). Didn't check for 12 ga as I'm still flush from last year.

Yeah, I used to like going to WSS. But I kind of think they are on the way out in this city. When I was there today there was one guy working the gun counter and one customer looking at a gun. At the gun counter at Cabelas you had to take a number, it was that busy.

Apparently there are some good deals to be had at WSS if you stumble on them. My friend has a scoped Sako A7 on order for a good price. But I'm still waiting (not really) for some reloading components that I placed an order for 5 years ago. I was also told by WSS that they were getting Hornady .358 ammo at the end of May. Yeah right!

They told him two weeks for his A7 - I'm waiting to see if WSS delivers.
