M44 bore

Please, rate the condition of this bore Cleaned extensively with Hopes 9, Gunzilla. I know it's not perfect, but please let me know how good.bad it is. From 0 being the worse to 10.

6.5/10 it should shoot well enough but dont expect anything better then 3 MOA. There plenty of rifling left but it a little rough.

It will get better with shooting and cleaning. Accuracy is determined by the crown on the muzzle, not the bore. It is about 9 out of 10 on this M44 in my opinion.

Some paper patched rounds through that would polish it up real nice. It looks pretty decent to me, nice and sharp but rough and dirty.

Could you elaborate on the how and why of this. I am always eager to learn and I have some grungy milsurp bores I would love to spruce up.

Paper patching boolit's will actually polish the bore with each shot.

A bad muzzle will launch rounds all over the place, but a frosted bore can still keyhole rounds. I have an M38 that I picked up as a beater rifle, frosted bore and rust in many spots. Cleaned it up and it shoots better than some Mosins in perfect condition.

So these are paper patched cast boolits. So could I paper patch cast boolits with gas checks meant for 303 and use them in my Mosin's?

Wipe bore with a better copper solvent and leave over night, muzzle down, on a pad of paper towel. If the stain next day is blue, repeat each day until bore is clean.
