BMG shooters group in the Lower Mainland...?

I have inquired with CGN admin and Greentips to see if we can start our own group in the group section. A place we can post privately and discuss events and future meetings.

We tossed around a few ideas over beers.
50 BMG only
50 cal and UP (I dont yet own a 50, but do have a PTRD, roughly .58 cal)
.416 and up
10,000 FPE minimum

I dont even recall 338 being mentioned...
I dont think we settled on anything, other than "Lets blast soon!"

That was a ton of fun. Even with only 1 hour sleep after night shifts. Beautiful shooting spot. Plus putting my first rounds through a fifty was fun. Lotsof stuff to do before the next shoot. But am really looking forward to it.

Good group of guys too!

Looks like a good time was had.

So when the "Heavy Hitters" spend the day out there, what's the round count?
Who's claiming the longest successful shot? How far?

I took 12 shots with a Majority of them sent out to 660 yards. I need to spend a little more time dialing in my new PGW LRT-3. I think Condomboy made the longest shot at a steal target around 700 yards.

My goal is to hit a 24"x24" steel plate at a mile but I think I have lots of practice in my future to make that shot. I am even considering signing up for Furlongs course next year to learn some real shooting skills.

I like days like that, where 12 quality shots is enough. I'm a little surprised at the lack of distance but iirc, the rifle's new to you.
Looking forward to more pics.

On a side note, if you or any of the H H need some pointers, I'm available. Me and my .223 consider 600 & 700 yards CQB, but I won't tease you guys about it. :p

Round count was low that day. Condomboy had his rifle sighted for 600 so he was good. Mine was first outing and bore sighted by having tootall hold the barrel after I lined it up with a target and then adjusted the scope. Very red neck. I should have opted for the laser bore sighter when I bought the rifle. That being said it was actually fairly close considering. But then... Thanks to 1 hour sleep after night shift before heading out along with running on mostly caffeine... I made the Rookie mistake.. Instead of aiming at the target and adjusting to POI, I ummm must have aimed at impact and adjusted to target. Doh, I know better than that!!! Anyways low round count for me. Have some homework to do with drop charts etc after I resight in.

The other guys put a lot more lead down range than I did. But I consider this my first intro. Some gear I'll bring along for next time and will get serious. Plus I plan on going for some groups once I'm good with the math and ballistics.

One observation with the HS50. To me the recoil felt like a 308. But the brake concussion was at first a bit of a slap. After second shot it was no big deal. The trigger on mine is good and the NF scope has enough eye relief. That being said, that night I did have the red lines from the stock on my shoulder. So clearly more recoil than 308. Not sore or anything and was surprised to see the marks. These big boomers are the type of firearm you get want to get setup right very quickly as they are likely to be a 10-20 round gun on an outing due to cost and the recoil.

I also noticed the bipod on the HS while decent once loaded forward a bit to take out any play is decent. But.... I had some issues with it not going low enough for shooting down hill. I'll have to put the front down the dip from our shooting spot along with a much bigger rear bag.

Drill and tap your rifle for a piece of rail then call Ross at PGW and order yourself a LRA bipod. I think Condomcleaner has one Lol! ;-)

Yup coffee is my comfort food ;), bad habit indeed. That's why I dilute with Baileys.
Sleep or no sleep, when shooting calls, you must answer.
