Round count was low that day. Condomboy had his rifle sighted for 600 so he was good. Mine was first outing and bore sighted by having tootall hold the barrel after I lined it up with a target and then adjusted the scope. Very red neck. I should have opted for the laser bore sighter when I bought the rifle. That being said it was actually fairly close considering. But then... Thanks to 1 hour sleep after night shift before heading out along with running on mostly caffeine... I made the Rookie mistake.. Instead of aiming at the target and adjusting to POI, I ummm must have aimed at impact and adjusted to target. Doh, I know better than that!!! Anyways low round count for me. Have some homework to do with drop charts etc after I resight in.
The other guys put a lot more lead down range than I did. But I consider this my first intro. Some gear I'll bring along for next time and will get serious. Plus I plan on going for some groups once I'm good with the math and ballistics.
One observation with the HS50. To me the recoil felt like a 308. But the brake concussion was at first a bit of a slap. After second shot it was no big deal. The trigger on mine is good and the NF scope has enough eye relief. That being said, that night I did have the red lines from the stock on my shoulder. So clearly more recoil than 308. Not sore or anything and was surprised to see the marks. These big boomers are the type of firearm you get want to get setup right very quickly as they are likely to be a 10-20 round gun on an outing due to cost and the recoil.
I also noticed the bipod on the HS while decent once loaded forward a bit to take out any play is decent. But.... I had some issues with it not going low enough for shooting down hill. I'll have to put the front down the dip from our shooting spot along with a much bigger rear bag.
