Looks to be an ex-M1C rifle. Those are the old side mounting holes filled in.

SA 52 stamp is to show the rifle went through a US arsenal rebuild in 1952
Originally the rifle was a M1C sniper rifle . The mounting holes for the M1C scope mount were plugged .
Soon it will be a M1C again
