It seems it's harder to find a reasonably priced purpose-made ranch hand holster than I expected - made harder by being left-handed
I know Wantsall's sells a nice one, but it's more than twice as expensive as many of the ones elsewhere on the net. I don;t know what Coho (sp?) on CGN charges, but he hasn't answered any of my pm's and I'm not sure he even makes them anymore???
There are some cheap corder nylon drop-leg holsters on the 'bay, but as a drop-leg, I'm thinking it will sit too low to be able to kneel down wearing the rig.
The three online ones I've located that look promising are these babys. Not sure which I would like better, so looking for opinions.
Option 1:
The "RANCH HAND LEATHER SCABBARD HOLSTER -BELT LOOP-SHOULDER STRAP" from Southern Comfort Mercantile. It's a dual-use back-mounted scabbard or belt holster, but it's a cross-draw. I don't ride horses, but it's saddle mountable too. Price about $150. Looks versatile, but not sure about it being a cross-draw. Also, waiting for the shop to confirm the belt sizes it can take.
Option 2:
The "Bandito Shoulder Holster Hunting Rig" from an e-bay seller.
This one can be mounted directly to a belt, or to a shoulder harness to help with the heft of the gun. The harness is a buscalero-type mount with cartridge loops. Not as versatile as option 1 as there's not back-mount that I can see, but it looks well made and probably makes carry fairly comfortable. Also about $150.
Option 3:
The traditional, plain, belt holster - very similar to the Wantsall holster or the Coho unit. This one is undecorated, but well made and only runs $100.
What do you guys think? All three of these are available for leftys.
