.280 is the way to go... might aswell punch a hole that is 0.01" bigger and get better bullets to choose from at the same time... and you can tell Ted I said that...

I feel bad now, I should have warned him about the undue influence and pressure he would be subjected to...............if you squirm a little CTC and agree to maybe buy a 9.3X62 you might be able to get away without the 270...........

The good thing about being held captive by Ted is you will be fed very well, and have the pleasure of intelligent (although somewhat biased;)) conversation with a very knowledgeable gunnut.

His wonderful wife made the best moose brisket I have ever had yesterday and then served some rhubarb pie with ice cream soon after. If they keep feeding me like this, I think I'll just keep pretending to think the .270 is a good idea until I leave ;)

I have had the pleasure of meeting Ted [and his wife] face-to-face when they passed through PG a couple of years ago.

He and I have bought and sold from each other several times.

A finer gent you will not likely meet, and while I have not dined at the Wagner table, I am certain it would be a memorable experience.

Buy the 270 and keep your 7x57 as well. When push comes to shove the 7mm has a better bullet selection available but there certainly aren't any flies on the 270 either.

I don't own a 270 because it is a bastard of a bullet with an odd diameter that won't cross over with my other cartridges. Neat little aside though the Chinese developed the round and had the Germans build the rifles for it. They may not be identical but they are extremely close dimensionally and performance wise.

You're a big part of the .270 problem! We spent what seemed like hours downstairs trying to get into the Weatherby you sent him and he set the .270 barrel on the bench right beside us. I kept being drawn back to it....I hope you can accept partial responsibility if I cave due to your excellent packing of that gun ;)
