We have pest raccoons in Langley. If I caught one in a live trap on my property to destroy it can I keep the fur? I will be getting my hunting license shortly if that makes a difference.

Thanks.

You would have to contact the local Conservation Officer and ask. They are on the regular hunting schedule although having no bag limit. But to hunt these a license would be required. On your own property I am not sure what the regs would be. Better to check than assume.

I wouldn't be too darn concerned about the letter of the law myself, not in this sort of case. If you're not selling it, it's nobody's dam business. One time my brother accidentally killed a whole family of young racoons with his new Honda Civic and I made coon skin caps for all the kids who wanted them, did not feel like a criminal.

You do not want one from the summer months, maybe if you waited till the winter months when the coat is fuller...
Even then I would be worried about fleas and such.
They are vermin and thank you Moe Sahota there is a season for them...
Check what the BC Hunting Regs. say about needing a lic.

Check out the regs, they might also be on the schedule A or B of animals that require no license. Course Langley is in the no shooting zone, so some other means of dispatching the bandit required.

Looking through the synopsis they are schedule B. You are correct in Langley not allowing guns, I've heard of drowning but that sounds horrible. Could I transport it to an area that allows shooting, shoot it and transport it back?

41Colt, teach it swimming lessons and be done with it.
Sounds cruel and heartless, but really no different than one of those canned hunts where the animal is released just in front of the hunter and gets shot.
We have all seen those types of hunts(if one can call it a hunt).
Just my nickles worth of advice.
