HI guys i am about to inquire a (S&W M and P pro) in 9 mm and i am looking for a good holster.

Any suggestions on a good one, and where too buy one from?

plus are we able to purchase holster in the USA?

thanks

You can get holsters from the US though not every dealer will sell to Canadians. There are a number of great stores in your area that will probably have or can get holsters, maybe a BC local can chime in here. The Pro is a long slide gun so holsters may be a little harder to find.

The most popular for general use are from Blade-Tech or Comp-Tac. There are many other quality makers like Safariland, Raven and G Gode. Personally I would stay away from Fobus (cheap for a reason) and any holster that uses a button to release the pistol (not needed).

^^^^ Good advice ^^^^

I went with Comp-Tac...no regrets.

Lots of good options out there now, though I would agree with previous comments that Fobus is towards the bottom of the heap. I use a BladeTech SRB for my M&P 9, been happy with it.

Start by asking what you will be doing with the holster.

If you are looking to compete in IPSC or IDPA, you need a holster that fits within their rules, and suits that style of competition.

Why not get an M&P 9 Range kit? Great gun that comes with a Bladetech holster, mag pouch and Uplula loader. Oh yeah, three mags to boot. This pistol can't be beat for the price and the kit knocks it out of the park.

Sorry i should have been more specific.
I am planning on taking part in some IPSC competitions so thats what the holster is primarily for. but the Posing naked in front of the bathroom mirror idea sounds like a good idea.LOL

And in regards to the M&P range kit, i inquired the M&P pro over the EE from a local CGN member. I got a good deal and was planning on spending the money i saved on some range gear.

So any IPSC restriction on this Holster?

I used one for years. It wasn't bad for it's day, but I don't see a lot of them today.

I retired mine for a Ghost for a few years, then retired the Ghost for............ something else..... :)

It's easy to muff releasing the lock on the draw in secure mode.
It's not as secure without the lock, so some start positions can be funky.
It's a Universal fit, which tends to mean compromise.

Ok for specifically IPSC you should look at the following. I have tried all of these with my pistols and they have models for the M&P Pro available:

Blade-Tech DOH
Comp-Tac International
Ben Stoeger BOSS (** My current favorite)
DAA Racemaster ($$)

i ordered a blade tech from the US (6 inch STI) that i couldn't find in Canada
really good service and pretty quick to get here, beat an order from Canada ammo
made at the same time by a couple weeks (problem with Loomis)
