worth getting? which ones are good? figure they could be fun. i've shot 44 mag rifles and they were pretty cool. might be nice to have a 357 rifle too.

I went with the Timberwolf since they are collectible.

It's light, fast pointing and fast cycling.

It is a takedown and all you need is a loony. The stock is drop adjustable.

I tried a red dot on it but I prefer the sleekness without opticks.

I love to carry it with me for pre-season scouting.

neat! always wondered why remington never scaled down their pump for pistol cals? or no semi autos?

I guess it depends on what you want to use it for...? Deer hunting? Within reasonable distances, yeah it'll do it. Probably even black bear at close range. Cowboy action? Yeah it'll do it. Shooting pop cans in a gravel pit? Yeah it'll do it. And it'll do it on the cheap with 38's too.

I can't justify one because most of what i hunt is larger than deer. And i can't afford to have rifles in my safe that I don't hunt with. But i sure have been tempted before. There are some nice guns out there chambered in that round.

Super fun round in a lever-gun. Have a 44 lever Winchester and just picked up a 357 Marlin, both are ridiculously fun.
Anything involving deer or bear would be more suited to the .44. The .357 seems more economical for plinking but still puts out some serious power.

i like 44s, find they can bite surprisingly hard. a 44 rifle, i would not hesitate one second for deer/black bear. heard it will handle moose too with heavy bullets. for plinking and magpies, i wager hot 125's would do the trick. nice companion to my gp100.

i was doing some research tonite, apparently years back in australia, some biker war was going on, and a guy with a rossi 357 took out a bunch of dudes mostly with one shot. little bullet seems to be plenty deadly.

I had three .357 rifles... a Handi, a Henry BB, and a Marlin... I also had a number of .44 Mag rifles... I found that I was taking the .44's far more often... so now I have no .357's... but if you buy one, you will enjoy it...

Don't know the numbers but pistol cartridges pick up a respectable amount of steam in the longer barrel, especially if you load with the right powders. Really like to shoot my mares legs in 357 and 44. Surprising amount of recoil in the 44 when you hold it to your shoulder (quite a contortion but it can be done).

Federal factory 158 grain JSP's say 1240 fps on the box ( I am assuming 4 inch revolver) I was getting 1800 fps from my Rossi 357 with a 20 inch barrel

Add a full buttstock to the Mare's Leg and you have a pretty handy carbine...

I also like those rifles in the .357 mag cartridge!
My Marlin 1894c (JM stamp)

My Ruger 77/357
My only problem now is deciding which one to take shooting....:p
These are the true fun guns to shoot, carry, hunt with, or just fondle on a cold day in winter when too cold to go out. They will get the job done with any game up to about deer size, or just plinking tin cans or putting holes in paper or splashing steel plates. You might as well think about reloading your own ammo as well, it is the other half of the fun....

There are other good guns out there too, so good luck with your decision & enjoy the .357 mag cartridge!

I d find a Ruger no 3 and rebarrel it to 357,plenty strong action for reloading and a nice easy carrying gun in the woods.I have one in 44mag and it is a sweet little rifle, in my opinion if Ruger had of chambered the no 3 for the 44mag and the 357mag when it first was introduced instead of the 45/70 the no 3 would still be in production. The gun is at it s best in these cals I also think that one in 22lr or 22mag would of been nice as well.
