Questions for you tacticool.guys is the HK 416 .22 LR the best tactical .22 that money can buy?

- is it restricted i search every where and can't find the answer!

- it is sold with a 10 RD magazine :( not cool! ) i read that colt make 30 RD are they legal here? ( i doubt that! )

thank you!

it is restricted and I would say YES to your question of being the best (IMO). The 30rd mags for the Colt are legal...I think the 20's look better as the 30's are longish (think magpul 40's to the AR).

In my opinion the Walther HK 416 is not the best tactical "AR style" .22 available in Canada. I would nominate a good quality AR15 with a high quality dedicated .22 upper as the best, and the S&W M&P 15-22 as the second best. (unfortunately these are also both restricted).

I would also vote for the SR-22 in the non restricted category.

Good point about the 22LR upper...Spikes used to make a fabulous one, but discontinued it...so I hear. The quality of the parts would be superior to the HK416...but dang they're fun (the HK)

guys i never buy a upper! the paper work are for the lower right? when you buy a upper it ship direct? ( like a non restricted )?

You are correct! An upper is just parts. It's like buying a magazine or a new stock. There is nothing to register; no paperwork whatsoever. You don't even need a PAL. :) just order one and wait for the mailman!

but remember that the upper can only be used with a restricted lower...thus, range only...you seem more interested in a NR so better look to a dedicated 22LR like the SR22 instead

thank you Again Brordo!

We all love non restricted , but at the end of the day i will never go in the wild shooting! i am always at a club! so i got all the paper for my lower! where is the catch is the price? if the lower cost let say 500-700$ i better buy the complete HK :)

I wouldn't get the HK mainly because it's made by Walther, I would get the S&W M&P 15-22 MOE for $629 (or the standard one for $559).

I believe the HK 416 is limited to 10 rd magazines the same as the S&W MP 15-22. As pistol variants are available in Canada higher capacity magazine are prohibited.

The S&W is cheaper than the HK. I have the S&W and love it. I chose it as I wanted the controls to be as close to an AR as possible. The S&W is only missing the forward assist and the dust cover on the ejection port. There are different versions which can affect upgrading later on.

I find this response rather confusing, considering that in post #1 you said:

You seem to have quickly changed your quest from the best money can buy to the best under $700?

Thank you!

It suck donkey ball's that is restricted :( what is the second best non restricted?

I'll probably get flamed for this but I really like my ISSC MK22. All the current production versions run quite well and any issues have been well documented with a relatively easy fix. Comes from the factory with 22 rnd mags and has plenty of rail space. Has ambi mag release and 6 position charging handle too.

My only criticism is that full teardown is a bit of a bear. HK style pushpins definitely make it easier bit if you want to get to the firing pin, you'll need a set of torx screwdrivers to get you there. I have posted a thorough thread on full teardown a while ago.

I agree, love my MK22. No problems with it and lots of options with configuration. Tear down does kinda suck though.
