Hey Guys, Clinton from http://wildboarcanada.ca I have a question to propose to you all.

My current website tracks wild boar, an invasive species to Canada. I'm looking at expanding this to other wildlife as well.

If you could name Animals you would like to be tracked please respond below.

It doesn't need to be a single animal, it could be multiple.

Would love to hear from you guys and get your input on this.

No Offense, but the only thing worse than an invasive species is invasive hunters in your honey spot. Awesome hunting spots are good because people shut their mouths about it.

You missed an "a" in your link.

Not sure how I feel about tracking game animals via the web but Ducks Unlimited has an app that reports on movement of waterfowl so I suppose it's commonplace now.

a young fella I know has "ifish"? on his phone...he was planning to go fishing today but discovered his "spots" were shown for anyone to find. Not very happy.

OP-I suggest you stick to the invasive species... you won't piss off the folks that actually put in the time to scout for the game they hunt...themselves.

In general that is my plan, that and endangered animals. Might include some hard to find ones but again trying to get some ideas.

Agree with the above, Over here yeah there is Sambar throughout the Eastern Victorian Ranges but everyones spot is "secret" an when someone asks, you give them a spot about 50km down the road at least... They say "theres deer in every gulley" now days, compared to the old days when Sambar were less abundant an most days were spent looking for sign rather than Deer... to begin a hunt.

I know its different, but same rule applies... Tell em nothing!

I think concentrating on wild boar is an entirely worthy endeavor.
We don't wanna end up like Texas and there are a lot of folks that have no idea how fast it can get bad, or that there is even a problem in the making.
20+ years ago a buddies co-workers brother took the running gear off a hi clearance sprayer in a burrow pit near Spruce Home. iirc the damage to the sprayer was around $30000. Boars have been around that long, and have been causing grief that long.
You are doing a good thing, stick to it.
jmho.

I'd leave it at the wild boar, I've been on your site a few times and have seen updates to the map. Nothing close to me though.
As BrotherRockeye says above, we don't want to be come a texas with huge amounts of damage costing us piles of money.
If we stay on top of the problem now, we can work with it, not just thin out the heard for a few weeks.

Jokes aside, with iphone fishing apps we all know who those are for.

Wild destructive invasive boar is a good idea.

Adding places that are animal preserves, like walking only due to endangered ground nesting birds and such, would be good too: that way someone out after boar knows to be careful.

Otherwise, I also agree with those that figure "a quiet mouth gets more game".

o wow, that website is very cool! thanks for putting that up. I have always wondered if the pig problem that they have down in the USA would ever make it here, and judging at how many marks are in SK, it looks like it may be on its way... so if im out 4 wheeling or something, and I see a wild pig, I can blast em? any time of the year, and as many as I see? is that what im reading on the site? this may be a way to keep my bacon costs down this year lol :D

More or less, your supposed to get land owner permission and Rm permission... but I don't think they will mind all that much. Unless they already have "pig removal" programs in place.
