Benelli Supernova!

The one thing that bugs me about it is that as a lefty I can't get to the slide release. Most other shotguns it's accessible by reaching under. With the super nova I have to release my forward hand and bring it back.

Hmmm, never thought of that.
As a righty, I find that the supernova has by far the nicest slide release position, compared to a BPS or an 870.
I guess it wouldn't work as well from the left though

masterduckmaster - I just took a look at my Supernova, I bet your idea would work. You should draw up some plans for that.

I LOVE my supernova, I got the exact same one and haven't looked back. Awesome to shoot and I even rip on clays with it. Haven't gotten an extra barrel yet. But, next purchase

where exactly can you get an aftermarket supernova barrel? I am looking to buy a tactical length to swap out with my full size

how many shells you can load up at a time? I watched youtube video and it says only 3?? That's really low.

Comes with the plug preinstalled (at least on the field gun), so 2+1 out of the box. Remove the plug, and it's 4+1.

Have a little extra fun...and it's 10+1. (god my photos look awful.)

Ok.......what did you do to have that 10+1 and where can I get it from?

I approve this setup! Totally awesome.

If you don't mind me asking, what did it cost you to buy/ship those components?

Is this set up legal in Canada?

Yes, it's a pumpgun. Manual action shotguns are not magazine limited.

$140 all in for the tube kit (tube, extended spring, barrel nut, and end cap), clamp, and shipping from arizona.

I just picked up a Supernova the other day. I was going to get the 18" version, but the 14" was too cool to resist. I was hoping the barrel could be threaded for a choke, but I learned in another thread that most gunsmiths wouldn't want to try tapping a chrome lined bore. I'll just buy a longer barrel instead.

I haven't shot it yet, but it feels like a well built shotgun. Fit and finish on it is outstanding, and it just seems to be a well thought out design. For some reason I love the rotating bolt, I don't know why, but I do. And the action is buttery smooth.
The only thing I don't care for is the slide release and the safety. There's just too much trigger guard in the way. The safety is easy enough to turn off, but its a little awkward to turn on. It's workable, but could be better. The controls are pretty similar to the 870, but I find their more accessible and out in the open.
And the stock is a little wobbly for my likeing. Not sure if there's a fix for this?

The only accesories I want is a Mesa Tactical 6 or 8 shot shell carrier and a +1 extension. But I can't find them on any of the sponsors web sights. Anybody know where I could find these? And I'd like to add a light, but it dosent seem like that's possible with the 14" barrel.

Anyways, I'm pretty happy with my new shotgun and can't wait to get it out!

How many 2 3/4 shells can you put in the stock magazine?

What have you guys done in term of mounting lighting? I have 2 of these,..and it is time to step up my game and add a light to both of them. I was thinking bottom or side of the for grip? I can't find any "Bolt on" or "Screw on" rail options anywhere.

Thanks!

If you shorten up the mag spring - has anyone tried getting the 5th shell of 2.75 in theirs?
Looks like it is about .25 of an inch shy!

I am wondering the same thing. I have a crumby $5 plastic clamp on my M4 and its the best thing I could come up with. I think these high end "tactical" shotguns should be better set up with light mounting options. The only time I use a shotgun for serious work is looking for coyotes in the yard at night. In the day time I just use a rifle.

I just picked up a used Supernova Tactical 14" today...slightly used. Not sure how many rounds have been through it but the salesperson at Cabelas said that the previous owner had only fired about 100 rounds through it. judging by how good of shape it's in, under 100 sounds about right. There's very little in the way of wear and tear on the gun. I have an 870 Express Tac. and a Mossberg 500 that both have around 150 rounds through them and they have a lot more wear marks than this baby. That being said it is a Benelli so the finish is a lot higher quality. In any case I'm happier than a pig in...dirt!!! Can't wait to take er out to the range and fire some rounds off!
