looking for rem 700 update

I searched the forum for the past 4 months and can't find anybody's update. has anybody gotten there gun back from the recall center. i didn't send mine in fear of not getting it back before big game season. seeing its now september i guess im glad i didnt send it.
 
The vast majority of the latest recalls don't have anything wrong with them... a few may... if you know how to see if a rifle is operating correctly and check it before using it... continue to do so...
 
We sent out the entire stores inventory of 700's (about 130 guns) at the end of May and received them back at the beginning of July. Very happy with how Gravel handled it because it sure was a fiasco. As a retailer we strongly suggest sending it back at the very least for peace of mind.

stores take priority so they can start selling and refilling the shelves.

im still waiting for the shipping box for mine....i filled out the online form a long time ago.
 
I filled out the form a couple weeks ago and haven't heard a peep as yet. No rush for me as I'm using a Timney trigger right now.
 
Just buy a good trigger , like timiney or rifle basix ......... I know you shouldn't have to but for 150$ you get a new and much better trigger plus it's a fun project , if I did it so can you :)
 
Mine has been recalled as well, I went through the Remington site and have a box being sent to my place. I've bought a timney to use for the hunting season, and maybe will send it in after. My trigger has had no issues though (that I have seen so far!)

The factory trigger on the aac-sd is actually very nice, I know a lot of guys have dished out the cash for a new trigger but im not.
Ide be happier if rem sent me $100 for the return of their messed up safety.
I read the recall is just cleaning some glue off it.
 
Well they destroyed the crown on my rifle. There was about a dent into the crown that extended 1/8 into bore. I will never send a rifle to those guys again.

I called them on the damage. After I sent them the pics, they called back to say good news, we'll recrown the gun but accept no responsibility for the damage. Wasn't happy and told them to replace the barrel or gun.

They would not give me any info on who exactly did the work. Actually would not answer any questions about anything.

Then they contacted me stating that Remington insists that gravel get the rifle back to do an impartial assesment.

Here is a quote from that email;

"We have two gunsmithing teams here: one for ‘regular’ warranty and custom work and the other for the XMP Recall. It will not be the same team of gunsmiths who will inspect your rifle, to keep things impartial. Upon inspection, the gunsmiths will decide what is the best course of action and the solution sent to you within the best delays."

Ya right - I am going to give them another chance to further F&$! up my rifle. They will never touch any of my firearms again. I at least was smart enough to take good pictures before the gun went to them. I have put forth a complaint to Remington arms over the matter. I won't get anywhere but it's worth a try.

The gun will go to a gunsmith that is responsible and of my choosing and guess what - I will know his name!

This was just my experience but in hind sight should have just replaced the trigger.

I have to wonder if I was the only fellow.
 
After cleaning my my rifle with the XMP trigger recently, I played with it a bit to make sure all is good and when I switched the safety from safe to fire: click! It now does it all the time. I have not modified anything. I sent an email to the company in Quebec explaining this and if they don't send me shipping info soon, I'm never buying another Remington and I would recommend against it to anyone who asks. It's bad enough that their design has a flaw that could result in serious injury or death, and worse if they don't put maximum effort into fixing it.
 
Registered the day it was announced got mine back and tuned down to 2 pounds 1 ounce. So far so good. Some of the comments amaze me. This was clearly a law suit thing. How many rifles are out there vs incidents. Happy I have a 700 and happy with the xmp.
