You better be tough.

The 2014 southern Alberta sheep opener.....one of the worst mountain storms I've ever been in!

One of my biggest regrets as a hunter is not being able to sheep hunt anymore. I got into hunting so many years ago and the motivator was sheep hunting. Few years later and a serious almost not walk again injury building bridges and no sheep hunting for me :( just can't hike like that any more without a tag along nurse and drip line of toridol LOL hmmmm if we only had sherpas over here to pack me up a shale slope hehehehe
I can't wait for success pics from you sheep hunters and I'm so very envious.

Very sorry to hear that...I know what hunting the mountains and sheep means to me.

It's the beginning of September and there's already snow? How high up is this??

Hey, it ain't Ontario. :D Yesterday's news showed a fair amount of snow along H 22 south of Calgary. Some of it will stick , but most will hopefully go away again for a few weeks. Nothing really unusual here.

Grizz

been very cool here too at 3200ft in BC about 8 hours due west of Calgary. 12 degrees and we had just a touch of frost last night
bring on the cold

This storm was definitely unusual.....last one I remember that was of this intensity on sheep opener was back in 1988. I was two drainages over doing exactly the same thing...although gear wasn't quite as good back then. But then again I was a lot younger too...lol

Once the storm passes....it makes spotting sheep easier though. Hunting in a good hard alberta blizzard is kind of neat in its own way. Good luck with the next hunt.

That's hard core... My body can't take winter camping or looong days out in the cold anymore. My body will pay for it the whole week after. :p
