Sorry in advance if this is the wrong place to post this. I can't seem to find a forum for EE questions/discussions etc. I'm fairly new to handguns (licensed since May) and 2 of the 4 handguns I have bought so far came from the EE (a S&W 586 and a Browning Hi-Power in .40). I've noticed in recent days that the number and variety of listings seems to have fallen off. Does what is available on the EE tend to run in cycles? Is the selection better at certain times of the year?

I have noticed this too. Seems there are times of year with lulls. Right now i think people are dealing with return to school after labor day, and hunting season beginning. I dont know if this is going to mean more stuff being offered, less...more selling, less.

Seems that the new year is the time for boxing day clearouts, and Friday is the day that the most ads are posted...or Btt.

I haven't seemed to notice anything, I know a bunch of norc 1911's went up for sale with Canada ammo deal a ways back. I try not to look at it or I will go broke!

More ads are usually posted on the weekends. Probably because people work during the weekdays. But, it's cheaper to buy new retail most of the time.

Everyone think its cheaper to buy new.
When i want something i search the EE 4-5x times a day, caus good deals go SPF in 10 minutes, and i have had my share

Agreed. Items priced right usually sell quickly, sometimes within minutes. Have to be quick on the draw to snap up the true bargains.

Not my experiance so far. Sure, there are lots of overpriced items on the EE but I've bought a nice classic S&W586 for 530 shipped (vs 800 +HST for a new one that many think is lower quality) and an early 2000's vintage Browning Hi-Power MKIII with original case, manuals and spare mag for about 50% of the cost new after tax. The deals are there, you just have to be patient and be prepared to wait.

EE does have a bit of a pattern to it. Alot of people have noted that just after Christmas there's usually Alot of bargains popping up. Summer is also quiet and more of a buyers market I find. September is both back to school and the start of gun show season so that might be slowing things down a touch. Personally I haven't noticed a drop off in listings. Still a few bargains to be had if your fast.

I find that the best prices i get are with my regular dealers but on the other hand, i wont go 4-5 times a day on the EE... I'de rather spend that time shooting... Just saying... JP.

One very frustrating thing about the EE is sellers who post ads while their mailbox is full and unable to accept PM's...........That gun is VERY unlikely to sell!

looking at you tex_on_the_trigger!

You go have to realise JP that not everyone has the same bottomless bank account that you have access too, thus why sometimes the EE is the way to go.

It's not always about the size of the bank account either. Some people (and I'm one of them) just get some satisfaction from getting what they want at a better price than elsewhere.

I have yet to find a stuning deal on the EE, if there is a 150.00 gap between new and EE i will go new but i still hope one day to get on a mega deal on the EE, i dont dispear... JP.

Goes for me also.

I always look for a deal on G17 or M&P 9 but have never found one. Most are priced near or more than new retail. In this case I would always buy new retail, less chance of getting scammed.

It all depends on what condition these 2 were in.

Why should the deal be stunning? If the seller asks a fair price and the buyer accepts, pays his money, get his gun, and is satisfied that its in the condition that was advertised, everyone should be happy. I might sell a gun, but I'm unlikely to give it away. I might buy a gun, but just because you owned it doesn't make it more valuable then any other of that make and model, in similar condition. I've seen a few adds for handguns recently than seemed to be asking fair money for what is being sold. I bought my AR on the EE. I considered several all which seemed to be fairly priced, but one had all the features I was looking for, it was described as lightly used, in excellent condition, so I bought it. When it arrived I was very pleased, it was better than I expected, and had it been listed "as new" it would have still been truthful description, and it saved me $500 plus tax compared to the cost of new. Know what it is that you want when you go browsing. Have a price range in mind. Discount those that are over priced, or seem too good to be true, or are just outright junk. Once you say, "I'll take it!" be prepared to make payment in a timely fashion, with the anticipation that it will be shipped to you in a timely fashion. If everyone lives up to their part of the deal, everyone should be satisfied.

This is why Tradex is so successful. They provide an honest and realistic description of their inventory, they ask a fair price, they do their best to ship promptly, and they handle their customers in a respectful manner. Folks wanting to sell their used guns on the EE would do well to follow that example. Want to destroy your reputation on CGN? The EE is the place to do it.

In the last 2 weeks I saved a bunch of $$ on EE

2300$- Tavor
1500$ - Specter DR

These 2 items were snatched within minutes of them being listed. Surfing CGN at work pays off.
