Yes, Vanguards can shoot! Maybe need a bit of tweeking first, but then a lot of guns often do.

First target is from several years ago, the next is from this morning.

Found maybe the last box of Federal 130 gr TTSX for .300 Win Mag on a shelf and snapped it up! No longer available, darn it! My Vanguard likes 'em pretty good!

What stock is that you have on the rifle in the pic? I have a vanguard in 300 wsm I just put into a McMillan edge. Still haven't found a great load for the rifle yet.

Nothing wrong with a Vanguard. The only one I had trouble with was the 300 Weatherby Magnum. The trigger never worked right and was not consistent in shooting. The 243 and 7mm have been nail drivers.

Stock is from Pacific Research, who got bought out a few years back by Borden.

Specs on the Federal 130 gr TTSX were 3500 ft/sec. About 4.9" drop at 300 yds with 200 yd zero. If sighted about 2" high at 100 yds, can pull awfully close to a 350 MPBR. I took a 6 point bull elk a few years back at 100 yds with one, through the ribs a tad high, seriously destroyed a lot of lungs, went about 30 yds pretty much dead on its feet.

And the gun kicks about as much as a 30.06 with 'em!

Hoping Barnes was going to load them in their own line of ammo, but not so far.

Interesting results on a ballistics calculator, 250 yd zero, BC of .350, 3500 ft/sec...

0 3500 / 3536
50 3346 / 3232 +0.5
100 3198 / 2952 +1.8
150 3055 / 2694 +2.1
200 2917 / 2456 +1.6
250 2783 / 2236 +0
300 2654 / 2032 -2.7
350 2527 / 1844 -6.6
400 2405 / 1669 -11.9
