I"m thinking about starting to aquire some examples of WWII handguns. Obviously, as I don't have a 12.6, it would be limited by the 106 barrel reg but here's what I've come up with to look for so far...

1. Inglis BHP
2. Enfield No.2 MkI
3. P38
4. 1911
5. Viz Radom
6. FN1922
7. Occupation BHP
8. Tokarov
9. Lugar P08 (would have to be rebarrelled or an artillery model)

Am i missing anything obvious?

You've got some good ones listed already. My collection has a few of those..

A Mauser 1934
A couple Lugers
A 1892 st ettienne
A Remington arms 1911
A colt .455 webley 1911
A no2 mk1 enfield
A 1937 s&w 10

I take the .45 Remington 1911 to the range, but really need to find some .38 s&w ammo so I can take out the enfield and s&w. The st. Ettienne is a pretty nice gun too for a collection, it's very out of the ordinary with the 8mm, and It's very hard to clean as its a fixed cyl.

Thanks for all the replies and suggestions....I wouldn't have known that about the Star.

One problem I forsee is trying to establish a fair market value for some of the less common guns. I wish there was somewhere like gunbroker.com in Canada where you can search past sales and see what they went for. It's much easier to buy something if you know that X number have sold in the last year for between Y and Z dollars. In that sense it's too bad that the EE didn't work more like Ebay with a record of sold items and their final price.

I have learned that there doesn't seem to be any reliable rule of thumb in comparing US and Canadian prices. Some used handguns seem to be cheaper or the same in Canada while others sell for nearly double US prices. If there is one thing I have noticed it is that "cheap" guns seem to be cheaper in the US while high-end guns seem to go for less in Canada than the US.

That has been my observation as well. e.g. a very unique revolver sold on EE recently for around 2K. in the US, they typically fetch $5K
